The Doily: Wedding Inspiration from Fresh Finds

Let’s be honest.  I (Emma here!) never really swooned over the doily. The idea of it made me think of my grandmother’s wedding (though lovely, a bit out-dated). I had images of doilies in dusty attics, inside rusty antiques, and stuck underneath dishes in old china cabinets. They did not swoon, inspire, or make me weak in the knees.  Instead, they screamed old, cheap, and prone to turning a disgusting shade of yellow. Not cute.  Doily – it’s not you, it’s me. I’m just not that into you.

But… when our team at EB swooned over this delightfully sweet and simple DIY charger (oh, Martha, how do you do it?), we began to re-think the doily and its possibilities. It can’t all be bad… right? We began the search … but where to begin?  Decor? Accents? Place settings? Cake table? Accessories? When our search was complete, we were quite impressed by what we found.   Crafty people of the world – you have outdone yourselves. We discovered some really fun, fresh, and modern doily-inspired finds – handcrafted with love and guaranteed to stay far away from that dusty attic! By using fresh colors, textiles, patterns, and media, the doily has been re-done. And, we have to agree: when used in moderation, with just the right accents (and a smattering of style), the doily can be pretty darn cute.  Enjoy our hand-picked finds:  which one is your favorite?
