Have you ever seen the movie “Love Actually”?  It’s simply adorable.  There is this one wedding scene that gets me teary-eyed every time: the choir begins singing “All You Need Is Love” by The Beatles.  It’s quite touching – especially since the bride has no idea!  (Sneak a peek of the clip here so you can see what I mean, below.)

Well, my sister happens to LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this movie.  Every time she watches it, she cries.  Prior to her engagement, she finished watching the movie, wiped her eyes and called her friend, Kristen. “When I get married,” she said, “I want this at my wedding.”

Mission accomplished.

In a beautiful, scenic Northern Michigan wedding this past July, my sister married her best friend. Prior to the ceremony, we (the bridesmaids) secretly placed the lyrics to “All You Need Is Love” on each guest’s chair, with instructions to begin singing (as a surprise) after they pronounce them as husband and wife. After the kiss, the bride and groom began making their grand exit when the guitarist (best man) began playing “All You Need Is Love”.  The bridal party joined in with musical instruments (stashed at the seats of first-row guests) and boisterous voices.  Guests loved it and chimed in loudly! When my sister and new brother-in-law realized what we were doing they were elated! It was such a fun surprise and such a sweet idea!
