12 creative moss wedding ideas

Moss Wedding Decor

1. Moss Monograms for Ceremony Doors

One of my favorite moss wedding ideas is to use large wood monogram letters (covered in moss) to adorn the doors to your ceremony. You can adhere the letters to a ribbon with hot glue for hanging; display from a 3M command hook for easy adhesion (and removal).

2. Moss as Table Number Holders

We’ve talked in the past about how table numbers must be bold in order to be seen. That’s why we love these moss table number holders: they’re boldly covered in moss, which means guests will certainly take note; and, they’re totally functional, too. No propping table numbers here! Just place them in the wood holders for instant rustic decor to your table.

3. Moss LOVE Letters

With Valentine’s Day on the way, I couldn’t help but keep these mossy love letters to myself. Adorn your cake table or bar with these letters for a sweet, subtle woodland touch.

4. Moss Flower Girl Basket

Tie your woodland wedding theme into your ceremony with a moss covered flower girl basket, like this one shown below:

5. Moss Ring Pillow Nest

Don’t forget the ring bearer! This nest is filled with moss for the ultimate in springtime ceremony decor.

6. Moss Love Banner

This banner is useful for stringing along an empty wall, the bar, or as a makeshift chair banner.

7. Moss Filled Letters / Ampersand

These letters are slightly different than the wood-covered ones we spotted earlier in this post. These are a little more weathered and have a hollow center, which means you can add moss now… and plant succulents or flowers in them later. How’s that for dual decor?

8. Moss Balls as Table Numbers

Moss balls are great decor pieces, mostly seen added to clear glass bowls or these. We like them as table numbers, too, as shown below.

9. Moss Wedding Invitations

This is the ultimate garden wedding invite! It features a lovely invitation on the front and moss backing.

10. Air Plant Moss Hanging Decor

If you have tree branches or hooks for hanging in your outdoor space, by all means utilize them with hanging decor. Our newest favorite idea? These clear glass hanging spheres filled with moss.

11. Moss Table Number

As an alternate table number idea, this concept utilizes wood as the backing with ‘stenciled’ moss numbers on top.

12. Moss Terrarium Centerpiece

So, I spotted this recently and thought it was a super cute idea:

I mean, seriously, look how cute these little miniatures are!

DIY Moss Terrarium Centerpiece

And then I thought, holy smokes, this is a totally fun DIY project you can do yourself AND customize it for your wedding. Imagine these sweet DIY terrariums placed as centerpieces at each table, totally decked out with your favorite hobbies or scenes for guests to view. Here’s all you need to do it:

grab your supplies!

o apothecary jar
o moss and/or grass
o river rocks
o miniature figurines
o trees

Other Ideas: Add cute miniatures to coordinate with your theme, like these books, make a picnic scene with these (and a case of soda)… you get the idea! You can make an entire scene. Look up dollhouse miniatures or view them at a local craft store for inspiration.

here’s the low-down:

1. Place river rocks in apothecary jar.
2. Add moss / grass and leave a small section carved out.
3. Add your miniatures and trees.
4. Add lid.
5. Display + enjoy!

SO easy! I can’t wait to tackle one of my own. (Makes a cute Valentine’s Day gift, too!)
