Good morning, lovelies: Happy Monday! We’re kicking off a new, oh-so-sweet week of handmade wedding inspiration and we’re starting with a DIY + FREE Printables. What could be better? I (Emma here!) love decor that does double-duty as wedding decor and home decor after the big day. Today’s artful DIY Photo Letters project fits the bill: it will personalize your wedding space and display nicely in your love nest afterward. DIY Photo Letters

We spotted this skillfully designed DIY Photo Letters project at Shanty 2 Chic, designed by Whitney as a gift project. We think it is suitable for displaying your new name (or a smaller one with your initials and an ampersand) at your ceremony site or reception. After the wedding, take it home and display in your nest.

For this DIY, you’ll need 4×6 frames, spray paint, and a few other supplies totaling around $10. The photo letters – offered FREE via this website – can be printed from your computer and used for personal use. There are so many letter inspirations from which to choose! Check out the array of free printable letters here; then, create your DIY photo letter art
with a full tutorial here. I think a longer ‘Emmaline Bride’ sign might work well for the office; or, I’ll make a name plate for my home. Hmmm… either way, this is one DIY I can’t wait to craft.

Steampunk Wedding Inspiration Shoot

Production specialist, Cathie, tells us, “My husband Al and I have a love for all things vintage and all things steampunk. We wanted to organize a shoot that highlighted both of these elements, but in a not so typical way. We really wanted to show a softer side of steampunk. When we first started an inspiration board we came across an awesome photo of a steampunk guy with dred locks. I looked at Al and knew he would have to put his camera down for this one and be the model! (I was beyond thrilled with what Wadiya came up with!!)

“I started organizing this shoot by contacting a fellow wedding vendor and Amazing talent- Tanti from Papertini. Together the three of us sketched out a plan and I set about getting other vendors and much needed items. We wanted to work off of teals and coppers more than just reds (like seems to be a more typical color palette). We shared our visions with the rest of the team to let them allow their creative juices to create whatever they came up with. With just a few check-ins the day of the shoot was more of a surprise of how everything turned out. I could not have been happier!! This was exactly how we had envisioned it!! (Actually it was even beyond!) I was so thrilled to photograph everything. All the rich colors. the unique styles of each item and how Johanna and Al’s looks turned out! It was such a pleasure to work with such a creative team!”

“Little Woman Design custom designed this wedding stationery suite which included an invitation, reply card, bride and groom place cards, seating cards, and menus. Steampunk-inspired design elements were incorporated into each piece of stationery. Seating cards using illustrations of the menu choice were designed as hang tags that were then tied to a vintage birdcage using hemp twine. The menus and hang tags were printed on a rustic brown paper stock. The invitation, reply card, and bride and groom place cards featured the teal and brown color palette, while also incorporating various traditional steampunk designs such as clockwork, gears and flying machines.”

“For the cake we wanted to showcase a softer side of Steampunk. In order to achieve this we used a delicate ruffled technique to create a beautiful organic texture for the base tier and included bronze hand cut gears to incorporate the industrial elements often associated with the theme. By adding elements like a hand painted pocket watch, corset accents, and sugar roses we created a sense of romantic whimsy that really brought the cake to life.”

“For this shoot, we focused our inspiration on the clock gears and the Victorian era styling. Steampunk in general gives an industrial-masculine feeling so we thought that through this project, we would introduce softness/femininity by using more fabrics and wires vs heavy duty gears/iron works. We have always been fascinated with wires and fabrics so this shoot certainly provides the perfect medium for our works. We very much enjoyed putting all the attention to details, for example, the fact that the fabric flowers have clock parts at the center or the addition of vintage keys to the centerpieces. Hope you enjoy the results as much as we do!”
