Wedding Hair How-To: The Side Chignon

Good morning, lovelies! We’re kicking off the week with a hair how-to for brides (or bridesmaids). The side chignon is a chic, sophisticated look that can be pulled tight (a classic chignon) or loosely styled on the side (a side chignon). Last year for my sister’s wedding I chose a side chignon for my hairstyle – and loved it! Since then, I have always wanted to know how to style it myself and I thought this would be a fun how-to to pass along. It’s a great idea to put together a hair look-book for your wedding and discuss with your stylist. This will help you to plan ahead and experiment with different styles and see what works best with your hair length and your accessories (veil, fascinator, hair comb, etc.). Try this beautiful side chignon tutorial for your next party or night out on the town! All you need is a curling iron, hairspray, bobby pins, and a couple of easy-to-follow steps:

Lovely!

Blow dry hair smooth paying attention to the top sections to pump up the volume. Use a round brush for best results.

Then, use a large barrel curling iron to make waves from the ears down.

teasing the hair for side chignon volume

Add extra volume by teasing hair with a fine tooth comb…

pull hair and pin for side chignon

… pull hair into a low ponytail and twist as you go…

hair spray and voila

…and, once you reach you ear continue shaping the remaining hairs into tiny curls by pinning them over. Voila!
