Today we’re featuring Kit and Jacob’s custom-made wedding! This unique wedding includes many unique handmade details created by the bride and her family. Their wedding planning team from Swann Soirees, tied together all of the major details and creatively crafted the wedding’s theme. Gabrielle Fox from Gabrielle Fox Photography captured Kit and Jacob’s exciting wedding day and all of the custom-made details within it.
Brenda tells us, “The bride, Kit is a San Diego fashion designer, she custom-made all the dresses & accessories for her bridal party (bridesmaids & flower girls) out of Indian saris, not only because she loves color, but because it was a way for her to honor her new family. Her now husband, Jacob, is of Indian heritage and an officer in the U.S. Navy. This was very much a family affair, for all the attendants were part of the family- siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandkids, etc.
This Wedding was truly the uniting of two families, for they married at the Catholic Church with a traditional mass, but honored the ancestry with the clothes and some traditions which are part of Indian Weddings (Menhdi ceremony, Gold Jewelry adornment & presentation).
It was important to Kit to contribute to local businesses, her design-house is in Liberty Station, which is also the home of my planning firm, the caterer, and the venue. The ceremony & reception took place in the daytime and the caterer’s menu was perfect for a hot san diego day (panini bar!). She and her family made the centerpieces, selected the lunch boxes for the kids, made the favors which doubled as seating assignments, as well as the simple but cute tags on the straws for the drink station (they had a lemonade bar with different lemonades). The focus for the wedding was color and family. Her & Jacob’s first dance was “Twist & Shout” and all the children attending were invited to dance with the bride & groom.”
