How to Wear a Scarf: Inspiration + Scarf-Savvy Ideas

We featured a Real Wedding where the bride wore a light pink silk scarf with her wedding gown, and we remember it like the post was yesterday. The bride, Debbie, wanted a simple, sweet, and elegant wedding day look, so her light pink scarf was the perfect thing to tie into her personal style. If you’re looking for an accessory to tie into your bridal ensemble, perhaps a silk scarf is just what you need for a fun pop of color! And, if you’re not sure where to begin, you’ve come to the right place. I love scarves and wear them as often as possible. But before I became scarf-savvy, I had that feeling where I would see pretty scarves at the store and feel like I wasn’t sure if I could pull it off… you know?

That’s why today we are helping to nudge you a little into the right scarf-savvy direction with a few tips + tricks on how to wear a scarf. Wearing a scarf around your neck isn’t the only way to work it; you can wear it around your neck, as a headband, as a wrap, as a cuff bracelet, styled into your braided hairstyle, and more. You can even decorate your reception or ceremony site with scarves… your love nest, too! Read on for plenty of scarf-filled goodness compiled just for you after the jump!

How to Wear a Scarf with your Gown

The most popular way to wear a scarf is worn around one’s neck. If you’re braving a cold wintry wedding, consider a silk scarf for a pop of color or a pretty pattern in lieu of a heavy wrap. It won’t keep you as warm as wool, but it may just be the lightweight accessory piece for which you’ve been looking. Besides, if you get a chill I’m sure your groom will be happy to lend you his suit coat, right? ;)

Here is one example how to wear a scarf with your gown. This is Debbie, the bride we mentioned early in this post:

All Wrapped Up

Consider wrapping up jewelry boxes in pretty patterned scarves for your bridesmaids – or for gift-giving this holiday season. Wrapping up gifts in scarves, tea towels, handkerchiefs, or other fabric favorites gives two gifts in one and is so much more fun to wrap than paper and tape.

Ah, so much sweet scarf-loving goodness I’m tempted to go out and buy some silk scarves, brushes, paint, and dye to decorate a few of my own. Remember, if you buy a pretty one for yourself, gift a few for your bridesmaids, too. It’s a great gift she’ll love to wear on the wedding day and beyond.
