1. DIY Paint Chip Wedding Garland

First, take a peek at this DIY paint chip wedding garland. I swear, I’ve seen paint chips used in so many projects. I wouldn’t be surprised if hardware stores started charging for them. I love this particular use of paint chips to make a banner… what do you think?

5. DIY Mason Jar Photo Frame / Candle Holder

This is a great way to display vintage wedding photographs of your parents (from their wedding day) or display photos for your table numbers. Just place a photo in a mason jar and place one of these behind it for a cozy flickering effect.

DIY Braided Bun Hairstyle

Hi, loves! We’ve received numerous requests from our dear readers that you want to see more hairstyle diys for your wedding. You asked… we listened! Now we’ll be bringing you plenty of awe-inspiring hair-spiration every week at EB! (P.S. Are you following our Pinterest boards yet? Be sure to follow our hair board!) Today we’re sharing the DIY braided bun. This style is great for medium-to-long tresses and can be worn with or without a veil. I spotted a few Real Wedding examples of a bride rocking the braided bun hairstyle in the images below (with photos by Leslee Mitchell. What do you think of this hairstyle?

DIY Braided Bun Hairstyle

I know how to get the perfect top knot using a sock (or one of these), but wrapping a braid around the bun adds a new level of dimension and texture. And, wouldn’t you know it… the time when I find this braided bun hairstyle is the week AFTER I decide to cut four inches off of my hair (and add bangs. Yes. Bangs. I guess I’m bolder when I’m pregnant!) According to the DIY image below, my hair is still long enough to try, so I’ll try this one soon. If your hair is long enough — and you’re willing! — please do me a favor and try this style. Send me the photos! We’d love to share them in this post.

DIY Braided Bun Hairstyle

To give you some inspiration, I found two DIYs to help with your style. The first is very similar to the bride’s style, shown above, but with bangs.

How to Get the Perfect Top Knot

Finally… that messy bun has an official name: the top knot! I (Emma here!) have been swearing by this no-fuss hairstyle for years (albeit, mine a bit messier) and now I know: a) what to call it, and b) how to get the perfect top knot. This hairstyle has been popping up everywhere lately – even weddings – and we thought it was high time to share it with you on the blog. If you’re having a bad hair day, the top knot will become your favorite hair cheat-sheet style. Need more volume? A top knot essentially pumps up the volume of a traditional messy bun. Or, if you simply want a new hairstyle to try this weekend, try the top knot. Today, we’re showing you how to get the perfect top knot with some of our favorite hair inspiration images + DIY tutorials. We love this hairstyle because it is super easy, stylish, and cures a bad hair day in a cinch. Read on to find out more + find out how to style yours with… a sock? Don’t miss it!

The Sock DIY Top Knot

The secret to a perfect DIY top knot bun? A sock! It’s true. (I’ve tried it; in fact, I’m even wearing it myself as I write this post. It works! Plus, it makes use of those lost socks from the dryer.) Simply take a sock and snip the end. Roll the sock to create a “doughnut”- like elastic, almost like an old-school scrunchie. Put your hair in a high ponytail and place the “doughnut” elastic at the end of the ponytail and pull your hair over the sides until you reach the base. You’ll now have a perfect bun! Just pin any stray hairs and use hairspray, if you wish. If you need a video tutorial, watch this fun video we spotted by Mr. Kate at Hello Giggles below. The tutorial begins around 0:32.

So… what is your opinion of the top knot?

12 Perfect Chignon Hairstyles

Looking for the most darling ‘do for your day? One of our favorite wedding hairstyles is the chignon, also known as a messy side bun. This style can be worn for both medium and long hair lengths, with or without a veil. If you opt for no veil, you can incorporate a floral hair accessory into the style (as shown in a few images below). Today, we’ve compiled twelve perfect chignon hairstyles to share with your hairstylist plus a few DIY videos to try at home. But first, check out this adorable photo below by Brita Photography showing a completely candid moment of the bride getting ready. Look at that big smile! Make sure your photographer snaps plenty of “getting ready” photos on the big day; you’ll treasure them. Read on for more…

How to (Properly) Wash Your Hair

Are you washing your hair correctly? I know, sounds like an easy enough question. I’ve gotta tell you, it actually makes a difference! Give it a try. You may be surprised! Oh, by the by, I remember hearing from my stylist that you’re not supposed to wash your hair on the day of your wedding because it’s tougher to style. Just thought I’d pass it along!
