Orchid Wedding Theme: Purple + Green

If you’re looking for a fresh springtime wedding theme, you’ve come to the right place! Check out this inspiration board featuring a purple orchid wedding theme with green mixed in. If you’re planning an orchid wedding theme, you can pick your favorite color (like white, purple, or green) and pair with a favorite coordinating color. For this board, we’ve used a mix of purple and bright green as one such example. Keep in mind that every piece does not need to be orchid themed (which may overwhelm); instead, pick a few favorite pieces and use coordinating colorful pieces for the rest. Read on to see what we’ve discovered + check out a beautiful orchid-inspired wedding giveaway at the end of this post. Enjoy!

Reduce, reuse, recycle. Waste not, want not. Buy local. Support handmade. It’s not hard to do, yet it gives back to the environment and local business. Today we’re inspiring your green side with eight easy eco wedding ideas to try. Each of these ideas – all handmade! – are designed to support small business and leave a smaller (but just as fabulous) bridal footprint. Read on to see which eco wedding ideas made the list…

Eco-Friendly Wedding Ideas

1. The Diamond

A handmade eco wedding wouldn’t be complete without an eco-friendly diamond ring. This one was spotted at Kristin Coffin. It’s real, and it’s spectacular.

7. The Invitations

Start the wedding off on eco footing with an eco invitation suite, like this one spotted at AmpersandInk Designs.

8. The Favors

And, last but not least, my favorite of the eco wedding ideas is giving guests seeds as favors. Instead of something plastic they’ll throw away, give them something they’ll actually use — and it goes right back into nature. These seed packets are by The Little Ragamuffin.

How to Plan a Rustic Fairytale Wedding

Hello, loves! Today we’re sharing some delightfully rustic inspiration in the form of a rustic fairytale wedding theme. But first… I recently went camping and my almost seven-year-old niece taught me a thing or two about fairies. At the campfire, she looked into the woods and pointed at brief sparks of light. These sparks – lightning bugs, naturally – are not lightning bugs. They’re fairies. Acorns? Fairy hats. Holes in the tree? Fairy houses. Moss? Moss is just moss. (I thought – pixie dust! – but she informed me, “No, Aunt Emma, that’s just moss.” Bless her heart.) I wanted to share that story to remind you that a wedding theme can be ANYTHING you dream it to be. A fairytale wedding doesn’t have to be all Cinderella carriages, castles, and crowns. If you’re an eco-bride, would prefer a position as princess of the woods vs. the ballroom, and you need some serious inspiration for a unique wedding theme, you’ve come to the right place. Today we’re sharing an exclusive Enchanted rustic fairytale wedding shoot by a stellar team of wedding pros with photography by Jessy Carté. So, without further adieu… let’s get started!

How to Plan a Rustic Fairytale Wedding (photo by Jessy Carte via EmmalineBride.com)

Rustic Fairytale Wedding

Venues

A few perfect venue locations for a rustic fairytale wedding are the woods, a garden, or a farm. This Enchanted wedding shoot took place at L&L Farms in Somerset, Kentucky, a truly perfect choice. The photographer – Jessy Carté – told us, “It was a very whimsical and earthy shoot for the organic, eco-loving bride. If I could redo my wedding, I would definitely do a more extended version of this styled shoot.”

Handmade Decor

Garland

For this theme, you’ll want to tie in your wedding palette (this shoot opted for soft, feminine shades mixed with natural greenery) with the decor. A cheery, colorful handmade wedding garland (by Jacklyn Peck) provided a backdrop, ideal for a cake table or dessert bar. They used natural twine which tied into the rustic theme beautifully.

Bouquet

The bride’s bouquet is one of my favorite touches. The florist, Elegant Designs by Robert (based in London, KY) created whimsical arrangements to tie into this theme. The bouquet was wrapped in twine for natural appeal.

Place Settings

The place settings featured kraft place cards by Forget Me Knot Paperie offered a floral – but non-frilly – design, which was perfect. To still embody a ‘wedding’ feel, white dishes and gold silverware. A vintage touch of old newspaper-wrapped-books (by The Binding Bee) made a perfect addition to the centerpiece decor.

Flowers

Mason jars with twine used as bows became instant vases with whimsical floral arrangements.

And, a little more floral-spiration:

Ring Bearer + Flower Girl

The ring bearer – Jessy’s son, Channing – and the flower girl – Jessy’s niece, Kara – played a role in this shoot, too, offering inspiration for attire and overall adorableness, naturally. Channing’s bow and tie were provided by Dapper Gent.

The Bride

The bride – model, Tammy Branham – wore a beautiful handmade dress made by Jessy Carte herself. (I know, amazing, right?) The tulle? Perfection. The hair accessories and sash were handmade by January Starr of January Rose Bridal (we ♥ January!)

The Cake

In true rustic fashion, a simple – yet elegant – white cake (with flowers!) was set atop a rustic wood slab as a makeshift cake stand. The cake was beautifully designed by Cindy Matlock of Cakes by C.

We also spied some gorgeous cupcakes with fabulous butterfly toppers.

Favors

One of my favorite favor ideas was used in this shoot: plantable butterflies. Guests plant the seeded paper into the ground and wildflowers will bloom. Finally – a wedding favor guests will actually use! By Pulp Art.

Additional Details

The poms (by Jacklyn Peck), ‘enchanted’ hanger (by Vintage Lizy), guest book (by The Binding Bee), menu (by Forget Me Knot Paperie), and pink balloons added whimsy to this wedding shoot.

Great job to everyone who contributed to make this one gorgeous wedding shoot! You did a beautiful job.
