I’ve never had hair extensions, but the idea of using them has always intrigued me. Luckily (or unluckily, depending on what style I’m going for) my hair grows extremely fast, so I’ve never considered adding hair extensions to my ‘do. However, hair extensions aren’t just for length: they can add instant oomph and volume to any wedding hairstyle, whether you wear it up or down. After receiving an ‘Ask Emmaline’ wedding advice request last week regarding the topic, I’ve made it my mission to jump head-in to this topic, so to speak. Victoria asks us, “I was wondering if you have any suggestions of clip in hair extension pieces for weddings. I’m planning on DIYing my hair. Do you know of any good wedding hair extensions that won’t break the bank? Thanks, Emmaline!” Great question, Victoria! In today’s post, we’re sharing hair extension do’s and don’ts, amazing finds for hair extension clip-in pieces, PLUS we’re giving away a pretty accessory for your hair (whether au naturale or with extensions in place). Read on to begin!

First, take a peek at this DIY paint chip wedding garland. I swear, I’ve seen paint chips used in so many projects. I wouldn’t be surprised if hardware stores started charging for them. I love this particular use of paint chips to make a banner… what do you think?

Today, we’ve compiled twelve perfect chignon hairstyles to share with your hairstylist plus a few DIY videos to try at home. Happy Saturday, lovelies! Whether you’re kicking it around the house today in your slippers or getting ready for a night on the town, we hope you’re enjoying the beautiful weekend. Today, we’re bringing forth a little wedding hairstyle inspiration with one of our favorite styles: a faux bob. If you have long locks and you want a new hairstyle for your wedding (without cutting it) today we’re showing you how to fake short hair with a faux bob. This glamorous, 1950′s inspired hairstyle will look great and it’s easy to do. To fake it, all you need to start is long hair (curled naturally or with a curling iron), a million bobby pins (give or take) and hairspray. This is a great style to debut for wedding events, too, like your bridal shower and rehearsal dinner to try as a test run. We were inspired by the faux bob from a Real Bride who wore her hair long for the ceremony and pinned it into a faux bob for the reception. (It’s the new “second dress”.) Read on to find out more and learn how to fake short hair with a faux bob!
This bride (captured by Kelly Wood Photo, spotted via Destination I Do Magazine) wore her hair down and curly with layers for the ceremony then pinned back into a short faux bob for the reception. Take a look:

Happy Friday! Today, we’re talking about wedding buns… and, no, not the fitness kind (though we’ll be covering that in a fitness post coming up soon). Today, we’re talking about how to create a hair bun for your wedding. We recently talked about how to get more volume in your hair, how to perfect a braided hairstyle and how to do a side chignon, and today we’re honing in on the hair bun which was once only synonymous with a messy, unkempt hair style. Today, though, hair buns are in… and, they’re more popular than you may think. Read on to see how you can incorporate a hair bun into your wedding – and beyond – with terrific inspiration from around the web.
Up first, Love Maegan shows us how to combine a braid (love!) and a bun in one fabulous hairstyle. Now that my hair is finally long enough, I’ll have to give this one a try over the weekend.

One of my favorite sources of hair inspiration is The Beauty Department, a beautiful blog run by the lovely trio of Lauren Conrad, Kristin Ess, and Amy Nadine. These ladies showcase easy-to-follow beauty tips with my favorite being the hairstyle ideas. These easy-to-follow tutorials cover tips such as to blow-dry properly (avoiding cowlicks and frizz) and how to get party-ready hair. My hair used to be very short and over the last year and a half I finally grew it out past my shoulders. It’s fun to have the length to finally try out new hairstyles (like these braided ones that I adore) and share bridal hairstyle ideas with our readers. Today, we’re sharing this bridal hair style which is a type of twisted bun. It was spotted via The Beauty Department and will look great for your wedding day (or bridal shower, engagement party, rehearsal…). Give it a go at home a few times or ask your hairstylist to assist. With your wedding day hairstyle, it’s always a good idea to do a trial run to make sure it’s the look you love before the big day. Take a peek…

Here’s a wedding trend we’re following – and loving – at the moment: braided hairstyles! Last week, we shared with you a beautiful fishtail braid (with a fishtail braid video tutorial) and we received some lovely feedback from you, our readers. So, we’ve decided to up the ante a bit. Instead of one braided style, how about twenty braided hairstyles? We had SO much fun pulling this post together. I admittedly tried out a few (or seven?) hairstyles myself now that my hair is long enough. Trying to braid again after years was weird at first, but then it all came back to me just like riding a bike. :) I’m happy braids are making their way into the wedding world – I love their simple, chic sophistication – but I’m not convinced they ever truly went out of style. I think braids are always stylish!
We’d love to hear your thoughts on the braided hairstyles so please view the round-up below and comment with your favorite #. And… if you decide to try out a style (or, twelve) please do send us the images as we’d love to feature them in an upcoming post as part of our series. (Please send them to us here – we can’t wait to see your cute coifs!) We hope you enjoy our round-up featuring twenty of our favorite braided hairstyles fit for the bride!

Good morning, lovelies! We’re kicking off the week with a hair how-to for brides (or bridesmaids). The side chignon is a chic, sophisticated look that can be pulled tight (a classic chignon) or loosely styled on the side (a side chignon). Last year for my sister’s wedding I chose a side chignon for my hairstyle – and loved it! Since then, I have always wanted to know how to style it myself and I thought this would be a fun how-to to pass along. It’s a great idea to put together a hair look-book for your wedding and discuss with your stylist. This will help you to plan ahead and experiment with different styles and see what works best with your hair length and your accessories (veil, fascinator, hair comb, etc.). Try this beautiful side chignon tutorial for your next party or night out on the town! All you need is a curling iron, hairspray, bobby pins, and a couple of easy-to-follow steps:
