The difference between a boring wedding favor and a brilliant wedding favor is handmade decoration. Today, we’ll show you how to decorate wedding favors with handmade wedding embellishments and ideas from A to Z. This guide will teach you how to decorate wedding favors that are more fun to make and more memorable for guests, too. Enjoy!
How to Decorate Wedding Favors: A to Z
* * *
Dress up your favorites with a quirky adhesive embellishment like these hot pink kiss lips or mustaches stickers at 42 Things.
Burlap fabric can be wrapped around any favor to tie in nicely with a rustic wedding. Consider burlap coffee favors or salt water taffy placed in a small burlap drawstring bag. Try BurlapFabric.com which offers tons of crafting supplies with burlap as their specialty! (They are a sponsor but we also whole-heartedly adore their selection, regardless.)
Favor tags are more decorative with calligraphy! Hire a calligrapher or try your best penmanship with a decorative calligraphy set. Hand-written tags takes more time, but it is more personal.
A paper doily dresses up any favor and does double duty as a name tag. Place on a box tied with string or attached to a favor with a clothespin; write the guest’s name in the center.
Use an envelope to hold a small, thin favor – like seed packets – embellished with a stamp.
Add a small decorative flower to tie in your wedding colors. These poppy flowers are made by Chocolate Bird. Just add an adhesive dot to the bag to stick on your wedding favor.
Buy small paper mache boxes and wrap in decorative paper and wrapping.
It takes longer to do, but handmade wedding favors are more memorable. And, they’re fun to make! Call your bridesmaids over for a favor-making party. Make sure you stamp each favor so guests know the love + care added to each one.
Stamp your initials for added personalization. These favor bags are stamped just for you by Packagery.
Create a wedding favor in a jar (think s’mores in a jar or rainbow cake in a jar) for guests to reuse after the wedding. Or, place smaller favors like candy in nostalgic miniature mason jars to make them look even sweeter.
Show guests your appreciate with a “thank you” kraft tag or one that tells guests it’s “100% handmade”.
Add a classic bridal staple to embellish a favor or place card. Use lace tape to decorate in a snap!
Package your favor in a nature- and eco-friendly bag, like these biodegradable paper bags by From Soul.
Do you possess a special talent, like painting, wood-burning, knitting, or illustrations? Use your talent to put a personal print on your wedding favor. Guests will notice!
Clothespins can be used to hold tags in place for favors. We’re crushing on these colorful clothespins by Clip and Pin:
Instead of a simple, “thank you” on a tag, add a thought-provoking or meaningful quote or song lyric on your tag (with attribution of course).
A decorative ribbon dresses up any package in a cinch!
Add a decorative stamp to a kraft paper bag, box, or hang tag using a thematic wedding element. Better yet, select a stamp with your face right on it! It’s reusable after the wedding on all correspondence. How fun!
Two words: baker’s twine. Need we say more?
Use an unexpected textured fabric – linen, burlap, or jute – to wrap a favor. For instance, you could wrap the top of a mason jar favor with burlap and secure with a piece of jute twine.
What makes a great favor? LOTS of it. Be generous with your favor sizes and guests will appreciate the gesture.
Trim cardstock, tags, or boxes with decorative washi tape. We love this stuff!
You’d be surprised how many guests want to take an extra favor home or to a guest who couldn’t attend, so make sure you have a few extra favors on hand.
Gift guests with a delicious edible favor with unexpected personalization such as custom bride and groom cookies.
We love a great pattern – like a zigzag chevron print – used to decorative a simple favor bag.

Good afternoon, lovelies! Are you having a fun Friday so far? We’re finishing up our posts for today with this beautiful wedding favor spotted at Katie’s Something Sweet. We love cameos AND we love cookies, so when we spotted these incredible cameo cookies we had to share them immediately. I’m not sure what I (Emma here!) love most about these cookies: the cameo, the pretty blue color, the ingredients (vanilla shortbread – YUM!), or that they are handmade lovingly with two hands and not a factory. This is the sweetest little gift for your guests and makes perfect wedding favors! Take a peek…
