What to Include in a Wedding Program

What is a wedding program? A wedding program is a booklet or single sheet of paper that shares the details of your ceremony to guests. It can include the wedding party, parents, the location, and more. Are wedding programs required? No – but I think programs add a personal, handmade touch. To see what to include in a wedding program, begin reading below:

1. Wedding Date

You’ll want to include your wedding date somewhere in the program. In this example (above), it is placed at the very top next to the location, which is #2.

2. Location

Include the name of your ceremony space and/or the location.

3. Couple’s Names

Add a personal touch with your names somewhere on the ceremony, typically written in large type with an ampersand in-between the names.

4. Parts of the Ceremony

Although not required, if you include parts of the ceremony in a wedding program your guests can follow along easily. This is especially helpful for religious ceremonies, if some guests aren’t familiar with the service. Some things you can include are names of readers, musician(s), song titles, prayers or verses, and the officiant’s name.

5. Names of Wedding Party + Parents

The names of your wedding party along with names of parents adds a personal touch. It also tells guests ‘who’s who’ in your wedding party.

6. Message

An optional message, such as “Thank you for celebrating with us”, can be included.

7. Map to Reception

Include a small map on the back of your program with directions from ceremony to reception. Guests will appreciate it!

Favors for a Kitchen-Themed Bridal Shower

If you’re planning a kitchen-themed bridal shower, consider these sweet little whisks or measuring spoons as favors. My mom and I (Emma here!) bought the whisks for my sister’s shower (and my sister and mom bought the measuring spoons for my shower) and I still use both in my kitchen today! The measuring spoons and whisks were a hit at both showers.

We hope you liked this round-up of bridal shower recipe cards. Which one is your favorite?

Table Talk

Kraft paper details can be included on the reception tables but remember that less is more. You want to include the theme with subtlety, while also introducing colors, patterns, and textures into the mix. One way to dress up your tables is with kraft paper wrapped tin cans which can be made into DIY table numbers. This DIY project by Project Wedding (photo by Mary Swenson) is easy to do and works well for weddings or bridal showers. You can also craft these centerpieces with your monogram, the wedding date, or table ‘names’ instead of numbers.

Another brilliant idea is wrapping linen napkins with kraft paper as napkin rings. Check out this example by Grace Happens that cohesively incorporates a blue and white palette with subtle kraft paper elements.

For the reception, use a kraft paper table runner on each table decorated with bold pops of colorful flowers. Against the neutral brown shade, the colorful punches of color will be even more amplified! Plus, no worry about wrinkled tablecloths before the big day (these just roll right out) and after the wedding you can throw away! Brilliant. (Don’t forget a pack of crayons at the kids table, which will keep kids coloring for hours!)
