First, take a peek at this DIY paint chip wedding garland. I swear, I’ve seen paint chips used in so many projects. I wouldn’t be surprised if hardware stores started charging for them. I love this particular use of paint chips to make a banner… what do you think?

5. DIY Mason Jar Photo Frame / Candle Holder

This is a great way to display vintage wedding photographs of your parents (from their wedding day) or display photos for your table numbers. Just place a photo in a mason jar and place one of these behind it for a cozy flickering effect.

DIY Braided Bun Hairstyle

Hi, loves! We’ve received numerous requests from our dear readers that you want to see more hairstyle diys for your wedding. You asked… we listened! Now we’ll be bringing you plenty of awe-inspiring hair-spiration every week at EB! (P.S. Are you following our Pinterest boards yet? Be sure to follow our hair board!) Today we’re sharing the DIY braided bun. This style is great for medium-to-long tresses and can be worn with or without a veil. I spotted a few Real Wedding examples of a bride rocking the braided bun hairstyle in the images below (with photos by Leslee Mitchell. What do you think of this hairstyle?

DIY Braided Bun Hairstyle

I know how to get the perfect top knot using a sock (or one of these), but wrapping a braid around the bun adds a new level of dimension and texture. And, wouldn’t you know it… the time when I find this braided bun hairstyle is the week AFTER I decide to cut four inches off of my hair (and add bangs. Yes. Bangs. I guess I’m bolder when I’m pregnant!) According to the DIY image below, my hair is still long enough to try, so I’ll try this one soon. If your hair is long enough — and you’re willing! — please do me a favor and try this style. Send me the photos! We’d love to share them in this post.

To give you some inspiration, I found two DIYs to help with your style. The first is very similar to the bride’s style, shown above, but with bangs.

5 Beautiful Wedding Headband Styles

You’ve heard of wedding headbands as a bridal veil alternative, but did you know there are several wedding headband styles from which to choose? We’ve selected five of our favorite wedding headband styles from designer Tessa Kim to shed some light on these styles and show you a few examples of how these brides rocked ‘em. Enjoy!

Wedding Headband Styles

First, take a peek at this beautiful satin bow headband. This wedding headband is made with satin which is placed on a rhinestone studded silver headband; a pearl and rhinestone brooch finishes the piece. Stunning! And, really, who doesn’t love a feminine bow?

The next wedding headband styles is one of my favorites because it’s sweet, feminine and features a soft shade of blush pink. This headband is named “Aurelia” and eludes a classic 1920’s style. It is made with pearls, rhinestones, and feathers in blush pink set on a gold headband with a pearl, rhinestone and gold button. Feather colors can also be customized in ivory or white, if you prefer. Beautiful: I want one ‘just because’. :)

The third headband is named ‘Vallie’ and is perfect for the bride who likes a more simple, bridal look. This headband features Russian veiling fashioned into a bow and finished with an antique silver pearl button set on a rhinestone silver headband. This one’s so sweet, it sparkles.

The fourth headband style in our spotlight today is named ‘Sophronia’ which does double-duty as both a headband and a sash (whichever you prefer). This headband style offers a ton of sparkle with rhinestones set on metal mesh and a luxurious satin ribbon tie for a fit that works for everyone, whether worn as a headband or a dress sash.

And, last but not least is my second favorite wedding headband styles: the flower halo. This particular halo sits on half of the bride’s head to be worn as a halo style or a headband instead. This flower halo headband is full of vintage charm: vintage millinery leaves, vintage baby’s breath, vintage organdy flowers and a beautiful gold braid trim combine to make this one-of-a-kind piece, attached to a wire base. There are several flowers available if you wish to customize your piece.

How to Get More Volume in Your Hair

Have you ever wondered how to get more volume in your hair? Today we’re going to show you how to achieve that thicker, fuller look for your wedding day – and beyond – with a few of our favorite tutorials. I have always admired voluminous hair in magazines and photo shoots wishing that I, too, had lustrous, voluminous hair. Then I realized something: I can keep wishing for more volume or I can make it happen. Voluminous hair is the result of a few key essentials like a good diet (high protein can lead to healthier, thicker hair with less breakage), plenty of H20, proper blow-drying techniques (here’s a video to get you started), plenty of hairspray, and abundant amounts of teasing, product-applying, and styling. If you’re opting for a bridal veil alternative, keep in mind that your hair will have nothing to hide behind. If you don’t want your hair to go from fabulous to flat as you walk down the aisle, be sure to give your hair plenty of lift. So, now, let’s show you how to get more volume in your hair with these tutorials PLUS a few hand-picked bridal headbands perfect for sporting your voluminous new ‘do. Enjoy!

You may remember the next image from our braided hairstyles round-up a few months back. It is from a fabulous hair tutorial we spotted via Keiko Lynn which shows you how to get a pretty up-do with braids and plenty of volume:

Although she has an unfair advantage (her hair is gorgeous to begin with), she styles it from this…

It looks beautiful! And, as a side note, I’m totally loving the hot pink lipstick.

If a braid isn’t your style of choice, how about a messy side ponytail? This tutorial via A Cup of Jo (photography by Jamie Beck) shows you an easy-to-do side ponytail:

Or, try a voluminous puffy bun which takes your hair from flat to fabulous in seconds! This tutorial (below) is via Extra Petite and offers a full video tutorial!

And, for brides with shorter-length hair, learn how to get more volume on top with a video tutorial from The Small Things Blog. I recently discovered this blog and love its easy-to-follow video tutorials – always a plus!
