Beecher Island Wedding, Colorado: Kait + Joby

You’ll love Kait and Joby’s Beecher Island wedding in Colorado! Their wedding’s unique location, rustic chic details, and gorgeous scenery easily makes this one of our favorite Colorado weddings. The wedding photos you’re about to enjoy were captured by Emmy from Searching for the Light Photography, LLC. Emmy’s our newest preferred Colorado wedding photographer and we’re excited to share her work with you. Now more from the photographer and bride…

Beecher Island Wedding in Colorado: Kait and Joby

Beecher Island Wedding

Emmy tells us, “Kait and Joby’s wedding was absolutely beautiful; every single detail had an deeper value to the bride and groom, which made it all the more beautiful. As a photographer who loves capturing the story, it can become tedious to capture every detail of the wedding. But capturing Kait and Joby’s wedding was so much fun because every detail meant so much to them. From the table runners being a piece of family history, to the venue being a piece of history in the couple’s hometown, to the potted plants reflecting their growing up in a small farm town, to the church pews sitting outside showing they loved the beauty of outdoors but loved community of people around them… everything perfectly fit Kait and Joby’s ‘high school sweethearts’ love story.”

Beecher Island Wedding

Kait tells us, “It was important to me that we get potted plants, instead of cut flowers, to enjoy all summer long! I always hate to see flowers die. I was also excited about the table runners, which were just long 2x12s (that actually came from Joby’s family’s barn that was torn down a year or so before). And the other thing that sticks out to me now is my bouquet. I originally did not want to carry a bouquet, but my mom insisted and picked out a florist for me—and I LOVED IT. I was so surprised, but I just kept staring into the bouquet that day, seeing all the beauty that surrounded us on our wedding day.”

Why did you choose to get married where you did? “We chose Beecher Island for several reasons. A) We both grew up in the area, so it made sense to have our wedding there too. B) My parents were married there as well as my oldest brother and his wife. That meant a lot to us, as we admire and love both couples very much. C) It is a beautiful outdoor setting and just what we were looking for. Plus the cost to rent the whole place for three days was only $100!”

Why was your wedding unique? “Because it was ours, of course! But I think what made it ours was primarily the location, the ceremony, and the auditorium. I think the location made all the difference, and I really ended up loving the wooden pews instead of white chairs. The ceremony was, of course, magical to me but especially so because of the thought we put into it. I spent our entire engagement (over a year) writing and tweaking my vows and at least six months thinking about what readings and traditions we wanted to include (or not include). And then, of course, the reception turned out to be more than I even imagined! The old building with brick walls and wooden ceiling was easy to work with, but I also loved how we incorporated chandeliers (and other such items) to make it feel more like a wedding. And of course, the food! We picked our favorite foods to feed our guests, so we, at least, liked it!”

Where did you find your inspiration? “Pinterest! And my mom. She has always been an impressive planner, but she was more than impressive regarding our wedding. She had several ideas I never considered, and she certainly helped me cover the details—and the devil is in the details, I learned!”

Elkridge Club Wedding: Rig + Danielle

Rig and Danielle’s Elkridge Club wedding in Baltimore was magnificent! Their wedding has a classic feeling and elegant theme. Dennis Drenner Photographs captured their wedding and all of its personal, intimate moments. Read on to find out more and enjoy the photos…

Elkridge Club Wedding

Dennis tells us, “Rig and Danielle are an interesting match and a great example of opposites attracting. She is a real Montana cowgirl, while he is the scion of an old Baltimore family, but they get along like crabs and Old Bay seasoning! (in case you’re not from the Mid-Atlantic, that means they get along great!)”

“The ceremony was held on a beautiful Fall day at the Church of the Redeemer in Baltimore. Afterwards, we got outside for some quick portraits in the last light of the day. Just as I began to do Rig and Danielle’s portraits, a blaze of amber light burst from behind the clouds, sending me into an excited (and productive) photo-frenzy.”

“Afterwards we all headed to the reception, held at the Elkridge Club. A former fox hunting club once in the outskirts of old Baltimore, the Elkridge Club is now very much inside of the city — but still surrounded by beautiful grounds and now a golf course. Guests enjoyed cocktails overlooking the 9th hole as the sun sunk beneath the horizon and the band starting tuning up their instruments.”

“Much merriment ensued, beautiful cowgirls danced with dapper young lawyers, the bride and groom were both well-roasted in some hilarious wedding speeches, and the guitarist played at amazing speed with the guitar held behind his head. All in all, a night to remember for all!”

Napa Private Estate Wedding: Christine + Mitch

Today we’re featuring this Napa private estate wedding photographed by White Ivory Photography. Christine and Mitch’s wedding in Napa Valley, California has plenty of beautiful details!

Their photographer Sandra tells us, “It’s a classic wedding with a slight rustic flair, influenced by the Tuscan style architecture of the winery with hints of Tiffany blue, black and burlap. The couple, Christine and Mitch, traveled from Vancouver, B.C with their closest of friends and family to celebrate their sweet union.”

The couple had sweet bursts of Tiffany blue everywhere — even in these elegant cupcakes that were designed like miniature Tiffany & Co. boxes.

The bride and groom chose to have a small cake for the cake cutting along with cupcakes for guests. Their cake was square shaped and featured Tiffany blue icing with a white ribbon on top in place of a cake topper.

New Haven Lawn Club Wedding: Christian + Rob

We’re loving this New Haven Lawn Club wedding! Meet Christian and Rob. This beautiful bride and handsome groom had their wedding at the New Haven Lawn Club in Connecticut. Their wedding has a classic theme tied in with some personalized handmade details. Katie from Katie Slater Photography captured the love, faith, and commitment that makes us so very proud to feature this wedding.

Christian says, “For me, the inspiration was remembering the past and embracing the future. I lost both of my parents to cancer prior to the wedding and my grandmother could not be in attendance. The colors we chose, certain aspects of the ceremony and giving to charity in lieu of favors were all in an effort to remember my dearest family members while simultaneously celebrating my future with my husband.”

“We did our own escort cards by downloading a calligraphy font and using great stamps we purchased on Etsy. We also did our own table numbers by using pictures of ourselves at the age of the table number. With the help of our wedding planner, we made ribbons for the different charities guests could vote for us to donate to.”

“My favorite part was the first look. Not only did it relieve some of the pressure from later on in the day, it was our time to soak it all in. We walked around the venue, saw everything we may have missed if we were only present for wedding activities. We got to chat with our vendors (who we absolutely loved each and every one of them!) and just enjoy the moment.”

Katie tells us, “Christian and Rob hold a very special place in our hearts. We knew this day was going to be special since our very first meeting. Christian came to us having recently lost her mother. She bravely and openly shared her story with us. We’ve been so lucky to work with such an amazing couple.”

Christian & Robert's New Haven Lawn Club wedding

“The love in Christian and Rob’s day is palpable. The quiet moments filled with prayer. The happy moments filled with laughter. We adore them all. We especially love how these two planned their day to represent more than just their favorite colors. They selected tones of pink (for breast cancer) and dark purple (pancreatic cancer) to remind them of their lost family members.”

“Simple, classic details. Walls washed in rosy hued light. Candles upon candles upon candles. There’s so much to love here.”

Sloss Furnaces Couple >> Photo of the Day

Our photo of the day is this Sloss Furnaces couple! Brittany and Eric’s wedding were married at the Sloss Furnaces in Birmingham, Alabama. Now a National Historic Landmark, the furnaces once produced iron for nearly 90 years. Today their maze of pipes and smokestacks offer people a look at our industrial past. The Sloss Furnaces are also great location for weddings for those seeking a cool industrial venue!
