Up until Queen Victoria married Albert of Saxe-Coburg in 1840, it was far more common to see brides in colored gowns. However, when Queen Victoria opted to wear white (to match a piece of lace), she started a trend. Since then, it has become the norm. So technically, if you choose to wear a colored wedding dress, you’re being more traditional than your might think.
