If you’re wondering how to decorate your reception, you’ve come to the right place! At Emmaline Bride, it’s no secret that we love handmade wedding ideas and inspirational twists on standard (read: boring) wedding decor. Each year, as new trends emerge into the wedding world (last year we saw plenty of mason jars, burlap table runners, and cake in a jar just to name a few), make sure you don’t get caught up in too many trends and lose sight of your own unique wedding story. Today, we’re sharing inspiration from an amazing couple named Kris and Heike who, while planning their wedding, made it their mission to skip all the trends and opt instead for decor that emphasized their personal style. The result? A wedding day that told volumes in the form of beautifully hand-selected decor and sweet sentimental details likely to be remembered by guests. Read on to find out how to decorate your reception with personal style with beautiful photographs by the lovely team at We Love Pictures. (Remember: If you’re making the effort to plan a handmade wedding, be sure you have an exceptional photography team on your side to capture every lovely detail! Make sure you choose a photographer who will make you proud.) Enjoy!
How to Decorate Your Reception with Personal Style
This couple chose a blank canvas for their reception site in order to fill it up with pops of personalization and unbelievable color. Don’t think of a huge white-washed wall as boring; think of it instead as a blank canvas. We love this just married wall decal that brightened up this entire space and provided a killer backdrop for the dance floor.
This couple didn’t bother with fancy tables and colorful chairs; instead, they opted for pure simplicity and elegance with white tables and clear chairs, which placed emphasis on bold pops of color used throughout.
Additional notable included these unique love bird toy favors, designed by Kris. Each guest received a pair in a custom designed “thank you” box…/p>
… “om nom nom nom” place settings for the happy couple…
… and the bright pops of color from a few brilliantly placed floral arrangements.
An outdoor sitting area in the sunshine-filled vineyard was a relaxing place to sip wine before the reception and croquet mallets provided entertainment for guests…
while a vibrant seating chart greeted guest upon arrival to the reception site.
Who says you can’t have a trampoline? We give this couple bonus points for having a trampoline AND utilizing it as a photo prop. How adorable!
Don’t forget to get guests involved with a simple photo booth with plenty of props! After all, these moments are priceless.
Tying in your own personal style when decorating your reception space will result in a more meaningful event for you and your guests. We think this couple did a beautiful job and we wish you all the happiness marriage has to offer! Kudos to the lovely team of We Love Pictures whose work is stunning. These photographs are brilliant!
