The adage — something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue (and a Sixpence in your shoe) — is a classic for the bride.
What is your something old? Mine was my mother’s veil: she wore it on her wedding day and re-purposed the comb to turn into my veil. For something new, it was my dress; my guess is that’s what your “new” is, too. :) My something borrowed was my mom’s clutch purse, another vintage treasure from her wedding day; and lastly, something blue was my garter, which had the tiniest little blue bow in it.
I didn’t have a Sixpence. Honestly, I didn’t know where to get one at the time (but here you go!)
I love to see the new “something blue” ideas on the market, from blue ribbon wrapped around your bouquet to a small ring box carried down the aisle. There’s always a fun new way to incorporate the shade into your day, so we’re here to share another favorite find: a blue lined clutch.
Blue Lined Clutch
This clutch purse (which you already need as the bride, so you may as well tie it into the tradition!) features a secret something blue INSIDE the purse as the lining. It is lovingly handmade by Ella Winston and, from the outside, it is a bridal clutch designed to coordinate with your wedding dress, shoes, and jewelry.
But inside, it’s a beautiful pop of ocean blue, cobalt, navy, or your favorite shade.
Smart, right?
Any of the clutches she offers can be made with a lining in your favorite color.
And if you don’t mind a pop of blue down the aisle (I think this color is amazing!) then opt for this soft blue clutch with a pretty power blue exterior and your choice of any color inside. You can customize your own clutch and pick any color on the outside (and add a pop of color inside!)
On any of the purses from the shop, you can have your names and date embroidered on the inside, too.
