Hey, lovelies! In this post, we’re talking about wedding album ideas. But before we get to that, we need to address a common wedding detail many couples forget so you can take care of it right now. Some couples ask themselves, do we really need a wedding album? The short answer: YES! And you don’t just need an album; you need to take care of it as soon as possible. Here’s why…
Here is a typical scenario: you’re engaged, you’ve figured out a budget, and you’ve found your dream photographer. He or she has the style you love, is within close proximity to the venue, and, thankfully, fits your budget. Win-win-win. The photographer even has an opening on your wedding day — hooray! So you put down a deposit. Case closed, right?
Wrong!
You may be all set with your wedding photographer, but there is one big checklist item you still have sitting out there: your photo album. And while you’re probably thinking, yeah Emma I’ll get to it when I get to it, most times couples who don’t plan ahead for a wedding album end up not getting one at all!
Life happens. Your photo album becomes last on a long list of other important to-do’s. It happens!
But, if that does happen, your photos are left to sit on a hard drive, flash drive, or a disc for what seems like an eternity. Hard dives crash, you know, just ask me — it happened to us and we almost lost EVERYTHING. Files. Writings. Photos — first photos of our babies! Pics from our wedding! (Thankfully, we were able to save it all thanks to a tech wizard down the street. But seriously, a scary scenario nonetheless.)
Can you imagine your beautiful wedding photos left to sit on a digital hard drive forever? Or losing those photos? It’s possible, and that’s why you need to plan ahead to put those wedding photos into a keepsake photo album.
Many photographers don’t offer a wedding album package, and that isn’t too surprising. Couples have no idea how much time and work goes into the actual wedding photography and I think lots of people forget the planning and preparation that goes into the wedding before the day, during the day, and after (editing takes many, many hours). We have so much respect for the hard work photographers do. It takes many hours to capture one person’s wedding day!
Since most photography packages do not include wedding photo albums, you’ll want to get one yourself. Since you’ll be happily honeymooning or having fun with the newlywed life to think about it, we recommend picking out your favorite wedding album ideas now. Make a list, figure out how much you want to spend, decide how many photo albums you’ll need (one just for you? additional albums for both sets of parents?) and budget accordingly. Even better, pick it out now and put it away in your closet. You’ll be able to see it, so you won’t forget to finally put it together.
PRO TIP: Don’t forget to include the cost of photo printing, too, so you can seamlessly put together your photo album once it arrives.
Now that you know the photo mistake you should avoid — get a wedding album ASAP! — you may be wondering what kind of wedding album ideas are out there. There are many places online, but you’re going to want to do some research. Look at the quality, the price, the reviews; look closely at the personalization (i.e. embossing), size, how many photos it holds, etc. You want to make one wedding album purchase only; and you want to do it right the first time.
