Hey, hey, lovelies! It’s the weekend and we’re coming at you with something fun this Saturday afternoon: a wedding registry must-have!On occasion, I find products to test out at home or receive products or go out and splurge on a fun new handy tool and then I share my findings with you. So, when we were in the market for a new vacuum (ours busted, sad but true) we tried them out in store, read reviews on Amazon — everything. And then we found the perfect one. Anyways, if you’re looking for the “>best vacuum to add to your wedding registry, this is the one! Find out why. Oh, and P.S. no one sent me a vacuum, no one paid me to share this review, I don’t work for Shark, etc. etc. Just one friend telling another friend about an awesome product. :)
Wedding Registry: Shark Rocket TruePet Review
This is not a picture of my living room. But I do like this couch.
The way this baby swivels is just one reason why I love it. But let’s go over the entire list of pros and cons, shall we?
Pros
It’s cute. Lightweight. Minimal.
At first glance, I liked how it looked. Secondly, the reviews on it (here) were amazing. My favorite: “This vacuum is like going from a flip phone to a smart phone.” I couldn’t agree more.
o Lightweight
Okay, this vacuum is very lightweight. IT IS TOP-HEAVY THOUGH. So top-heavy that it does not stand up on its own, you have to lean it against a wall or on the floor. This was surprising to me, but not a deal-breaker or anything. It is notably way lighter than any vacuum I’ve ever had.
o Portable
I go room to room to room with this vacuum cleaner. And then I detach the canister portion and take it right up the stairs!
o Hand Vac
This is going to make me sound super lame, but oh well: ever since I watched Full House (um the original) I thought it was so cool that Danny Tanner has a hand vacuum on the wall. Plugged in, ready to go. Yes, super lame. But now that I’m, you know, a grown adult, I now have a hand vacuum, and it doesn’t even have to take up my wall space! The detachable had vac is the icing on the cake; now I can rid of cat fur from the stairs, Cheerios behind the couch, pine needles strewn in every nook and cranny from the Christmas tree (these are still everywhere, how is that possible) and sprinkles from behind the garbage can (when the kiddos and I make super awesome sugar cookies with extra sprinkles).
o Amazing suction power
My old vacuum broke because the suction on it died. And anyone knows once a vacuum stops picking stuff up it is essentially useless. We would run that vacuum over and over the same spots and it would pick up the least amount possible. It was a lazy vacuum. The Shark Rocket TruePet Vacuum claims to never lose suction (like its competitor, the heftier-priced Dyson). I hope that’s true because, in that case, I’ll never have to buy another vacuum again.
o Wall mount & bag
Another thing that makes me sound super lame is how it mounts to the wall. It also has a bag to hold all of the attachments. I like that. I appreciate it when manufacturers take time to create a product from start to finish, even realizing — hey, how are people going to store this thing? and come up with parts and include them in the package. Nice.
o Hard floor attachment
Okay, this one is a total bonus but a HUGE selling point for me. This vacuum comes with a hard floor attachment, which is great for our Pergo flooring. The attachment rolls gently on hard floor surfaces, picks up debris, crumbs, cat food kernels, catnip, goldfish crackers behind the fridge, the occasional baby sock beneath the couch, you get the idea. For you, it probably will pick up different things. But it also comes with a washable pad that goes right over the top of it to DUST while it vacuums. *mind blown* It’s like a giant Swiffer sweeper. BUT WITH NO REFILLS because the pad goes in the washing machine! Ah, I love it.
o It glides
This vacuum glides when you use it. It really pushes against the carpet and does all the work for you. You just glide and then you remove the debris from the canister right into your trashcan whilst thinking, oh my gosh, that’s disgusting, but you kind of like it because you know it’s working. (Am I right?!) ;)
o Awesome on pet hair
Our beautiful and giant cats, Geppetto and Jedi, have soft, shiny, luxurious black fur. And it gets EVERYWHERE. And I was sick of my old vacuum doing a crummy job and finding it all and getting rid of it. And we finally found a vacuum that can get it all!
o Washable filters
There are two filters inside the casuum and they are easy to remove. Just wash with water and soap, allow to dry, and pop them back in. Nice and simple.
o It has lights
Great for maneuvering under beds and dressers, being careful not to pick up an accidentally dropped earring; also helpful when your black cat hides under the bed to get away from the vacuum cleaner and you can spy on him with your vacuum light so you don’t scare him half to death.
o It is compact and it swivels
It reaches under couches, dressers, kitchen tables, high chairs, and chairs… I love it.
o It is quiet
As far as vacuums go, this vacuum cleaner is really quiet! I’m impressed by its comfortable level of noise. It isn’t silent, and there is obviously noise as expected, but my old vacuum used to reach a high pitch that made my kids cry and the cats run and I would cringe and try to hurry while Andrew comforted the children and played with them to distract while I cleaned. Today I vacuumed and the kids were in the room and Ben was laughing and Andrew even took over and vacuumed for me. He normally says, “ALL DONE!” so that I finish up and can turn the darn thing off. Today he was all, “Mama, I want to do it!” In fact, hubby and I carried on a full conversation while I vacuumed.
Cons
With every great product review, there MUST be a cons list! Not everything is 100% perfect all the time. The Shark Rocket TruePet Vacuum review would not be complete without a few things I’m not entirely crazy about, but it’s not a dealbreaker.
o It is not cordless
We all know of the sexier vacuums we’ve seen without a cord. How cool, we thought, when we were shopping for a vacuum. We were going to look for a cordless vacuum, but we read reviews on other vacuums that were cordless and kept reading the same thing: it doesn’t have very powerful suction, the battery doesn’t last, it needs to be charged for a long time, etc. etc. While there must be the holy grail of cordless vacuums out there, it wasn’t in the price range I wanted to spend (I mean this one is over $500, out of the question to me), so we opted for this corded model. And honestly, the cord on this vacuum is so long I really can go quite far with it anyway.
o It is purple
This is not a con for me because I happen to love purple. But someone may think it looks too girly. Honestly, I don’t know who would care. But I thought it was worthwhile as a con. As a sidebar, I’ve noticed many vacuums are purple. I don’t know why; it must be a sales trick. But it works because the last two vacuums I purchased were, in fact, purple.
o It is top-heavy
It’s lightweight, but man the top is pretty heavy. Like I mentioned earlier, not a deal-breaker, but something noteworthy. You can’t stand it up by itself, it has to be laid on the floor or against a wall during a “break” while you’re using it. Storage is easy, though, as the canister is removed and placed on top of the machine portion.
I should note as a PRO of this, though, is the canister itself is light. So if you detach it to go upstairs, or around the top of the couch, it’s really easy to lift and carry.
o There are lots of parts
If you’re a fan of Marie Kondo’s Spark Joy theory as I am, at first glance you’re like, hey, these giant plastic attachment pieces don’t spark any joy, but don’t throw them out just yet. The many attachments may feel unnecessary; however, after further inspection, these are great for different applications like between the couch cushions, as an upholstery cleaner, to reach under the refrigerator and find those lost alphabet magnets, or to get up really high and clean the cobwebs in the corner or on the ceiling fan.
I’m really struggling to find a con here, so I guess I can wrap it up to say my Shark Rocket TruePet Vacuum Review receives a sparkling A+ rating.
Hope it helps! Now go add it to your registry, you’ll want this one on your gift list!
It’s on sale
I wanted to mention we bought it on sale and it was such a great deal! You can get it on sale now here. Not sure how long it lasts, but thought I’d pass it on. Also, you can get it shipped free to your home in two days with Amazon Prime. Try Amazon Prime 30-Day Free Trial right now. It’s awesome and you won’t regret it.
Happy Planning Vacuuming! ;)
