No one wants to be “that” bride: a bridezilla. Have you ever watched those shows on television that portray brides as a little, er, extreme and you swore up and down that you’d never be “that” girl? It’s easy to say one thing and do another; once the ring is on your finger, it’s tough to keep your wits and not get a little power-hungry.
Check out these 5 warning signs that you may be a bridezilla to help you avoid classic bridezilla-isms and create a more relaxing + fun wedding planning experience for everyone involved! And srsly, chill out! ;)
5 Signs You May Be A Bridezilla
1. You demand perfection in every detail.
Of course you want your wedding to be perfect; every bride does! Most likely, everything you’ve planned with goes off without a hitch. However, as is with life, not everything always goes as planned. Be realistic and learn to roll with the punches – both before and during the wedding – and you’ll be much happier for it.
2. You set unrealistic goals for yourself and others.
Setting a goal that is unattainable within a short time frame will only set you up for failure or disappointment. Don’t expect a vendor to jump on a whim to suit your fast-paced schedule; be respectful of his or her timeline. It will make the planning process so much easier for everyone involved.
3. You eat, sleep, and breathe wedding planning without a break.
It’s easy to get caught up in the tulle and satin-wrapped bows of wedding planning, but it’s nice to take a break once in a while to remember why you are getting married in the first place!
Make a pact to yourself to cut off the planning at a certain time every day or only work on wedding stuff a few days a week. Devote the other time to your soon-to-be spouse and plan a spontaneous date night every so often. Also, spend some time doing things you love… get a massage, a manicure, exercise, curl up and watch a favorite movie, etc. Stepping back from the wedding planning will give you a fresh perspective when you’re ready to get back to it. Also, your friends and family (and your fiance!) will appreciate the no-tulle talk at the dinner table.
4. You raise your voice. A lot.
If something goes awry, try to maintain your composure. Raising your voice doesn’t make any problem get fixed quicker and no one wants to work with a screaming bride! Instead, ask your maid of honor to assist with the issue or take a step back and deal with it when you are calm, cool, and collected. Remember that one small problem won’t ruin your beautiful day (not even rain!); how you deal with it will.
If you use poise and grace, you’ll be less stressed and you’ll realize that things happen and likely guests won’t even notice the gaffe!
5. You never say thank you to those who help.
If there are two things on your wedding to-do list, make sure saying “please” and “thank you” are at the top. Your parents, friends, family, wedding vendors, and most of all – your fiance – wants the day to be absolutely beautiful. Make sure you say thank you with sincerity more than just on the wedding day itself. There are many people rooting for your day to be perfect; make sure they know how much you appreciate it every step of the way.

How to Stop Being a Bridezilla: Relax + Just Be Happy!
Easier said than done, I know. But you only get one wedding day, so you may as well make it a good one — and have fun along the way!
The best advice on how to stop being a bridezilla — in addition to being happy, of course — is to stay organized. A wedding checklist with timeline can help you keep your focus, without losing your you-know-what/ ;) What also helped for me was having a dedicated wedding planner book. This one by Notable Planners is even customized with your names on it and will keep you organized and on-schedule. See it here.
Hope it helps! :)
Happy Planning!
