Can you mail magnets at the post office?
According to their website, yes, you can mail magnet save the dates, gifts, etc. as long as they are:
– Enclosed in the flat-size mailpiece, and either one of the following:
1) affixed to the contents,
2) wrapped within the contents to prevent excess shifting, or
3) envelope is filled with “no more than 1/2 inch clearance between the left and right edges of the magnet and the mailpiece edges”

Thicker magnets may have other stipulations; I know you can’t mail magnets that are thick or very strong. But couples have been mailing thin fridge magnets as save the date cards for years and it’s easier than ever before, as long as you follow the guidelines and use the right size and have proper covering over the magnetic side of the card.

How to Mail Magnet Save the Dates
Now that you know you can mail most (thin!) save the date magnets, how much is that going to cost you in postage? We all know that postage adds up quickly for wedding invitations, so you may have wondered if you can mail magnet save the dates the same way as any traditional card.
The answer is… not necessarily!
