There are thousands of fantastic mason jar ideas to try, but mason jar drinking glasses will always remain a favorite. The mason jar is typically used for canning, but it also makes a surprisingly chic (+ reusable) drinking glass. If you’re wondering how to craft the perfect mason jar drinking glasses for your wedding, bridal shower, or party, you’ve come to the right place: read on to find out seven tips to ensure guests love ’em as much as you do! Enjoy!
Mason Jar Drinking Glasses
1. Check with your venue’s glass policy first.
Some venues have a strict no-glass policy, so double-check before purchasing your mason jars.
2. Include a sign.
The sign should instruct guests to take a glass, fill it up, and enjoy. Also, let guests know to take their jar home. As much as you may love mason jars, you probably don’t want/need/dream of having 150+ mason jar drinking glasses lying around your house. ;)
3. Buy the right size.
Pint-size mason jars are best for use as drinking glasses. You can buy mason jars with handles, which measure just slightly over a pint, are easy for guests to hold, and look and feel more like actual drinking glasses. Prefer traditional mason jars? They work great, too! You can buy mason jars in all types and brands at your local store (find them at your local grocery store, as well as Target and Walmart). You’ll pay more if you buy them individually at a craft store, so be on the lookout for mason jars in a large quantity. To save time and money (+ hassle!), buy mason jars in bulk online. You can usually get combined shipping rates and you’ll save yourself many trips of lugging glass mason jars in and out of your car.
4. Mason Jar Drinking Glasses + Escort “Cards” / Tags
I love when two wedding ideas can work together as one! Mason jar drinking glasses and escort cards is one such combination, which makes it easy for guests to grab a drink upon entry to the reception, find his or her seat, and remember which jar is theirs. You can make your own drink tag / escort cards with simple kraft luggage tags, twine, and permanent markers. Include the guest’s name and table assignment on each tag and place in alphabetical order for guests to grab-and-go.
Chalkboard paint is another way for guests to include their names. Apply chalkboard paint to jars (or use chalkboard stickers, which is way less time-consuming and messy). You’ll want to provide plenty of white chalk or a chalk pen.
5. Serve beverages in drink dispensers.
To add to the homespun feel of the mason jar, serve drinks in glass drink dispensers. You’ll want both alcohol and non-alcohol options; dispensers should be clearly labeled. One of my favorite non-alcohol drinks is this strawberry + ginger ale concoction. It’s perfect for summer!
6. Don’t forget straws!
No matter how amazing the mason jars may be, some guests won’t want to drink directly out of the jar. Offer straws and everyone will be happy! Plus, striped straws are way cuter than traditional straws and can tie into your color palette, too.
7. Keep ’em refilled!
Keep the dispensers refilled all night long. Don’t forget plenty of ice to keep drinks cold (and guests refreshed).

Happy Planning!
