Are you wondering how much to spend on bridesmaid gifts? Many brides are wondering the same thing! We have tips on exactly how much to spend on gifts for bridesmaids right here. But first, make sure you’re on the list to stay up-to-date with the latest!
How much should you spend on bridesmaid gifts?
That’s a good question.
You don’t want to make the mistake of not spending enough, but you also don’t want to overspend on bridesmaid gifts, especially if you’re on a wedding budget. We received this question from bride-to-be, Anna, who asks, simply: “How much should I spend on bridesmaid gifts?”
As a rule of thumb, most brides spend anywhere from $50 to $200 on bridesmaid gifts for each attendant.
This isn’t a hard and fast rule, however, and the cost you’ll incur on bridesmaid gift-giving may vary depending on a few things, which we’ll tackle right now.

How Much to Spend on Bridesmaid Gifts
For most brides, I recommend you spend at least $50 on bridesmaid gifts, increasing the amount to $100 if it is within your budget.
Gifts within this price range are generally a nice, thoughtful way to say thank you for being a part of the wedding.
However, we’re seeing an uptick in brides spending more on lavish bridesmaid bags, filling it up with a bunch of goodies and totaling anywhere from $75 to $150.

The amount you spend isn’t the important thing here, of course: it’s not always how much you spend, but what you decide to give as a gift that matters.
Give a gift that shows you appreciate and love them; you are grateful for their friendship and for their support during this exciting time in your life.
Use these tips to decide how much to spend on bridesmaid gifts so you don’t under- or over- spend.
How Much Do Bridesmaid Gifts Cost?
How much should bridesmaid gifts cost anyway? The cost to factor into your budget will be determined by plenty of things, including the following.
How much does the bridesmaid dress cost?
If the bridesmaid dress you’re asking them to buy is $150+, plan to spend at least $150 or more on their bridesmaid gift. Most brides give a gift that covers the cost — and then some — of the attire costs incurred. If the dress is under $150, plan to spend $50 (or the amount of the dress) or more on bridesmaid gifts.
Is this a destination wedding?
If your wedding involves travel, take this into consideration when picking out the bridesmaid gift. Make sure you’re spending more, as they needed to spend a larger sum of money to be a part of the festivities.
Are you paying for hair and makeup?
If you’re covering the cost of bridesmaid hair and makeup — which isn’t required but is a nice gesture — the cost can go towards part of the gift for your bridesmaids. I recommend you still give a gift, as it is nice to have a tangible item, but it can be more affordable since you’ve covered a big cost on their behalf.
What is your wedding budget?
Be generous — but stay within your limits.
If the sky’s the limit on your wedding budget, definitely go a little wild and spoil bridesmaids more (if you can!) A bride spending $50,000 on a wedding wouldn’t give bridesmaids a gift of $50, as they may have more money to spend and should not go cheap on the bridesmaid gifting.
On the other hand, a $20,000 budget might equal a nice bridesmaid gift from $50 to $100.
A wedding budget on the more affordable side of $10,000 or less might spend anywhere from $35 to $75 on bridesmaid gifts.
How many bridesmaids are in your wedding?
Keep in mind that the amount you spend on bridal party gifts should be the same across the board. Don’t give one bridesmaid a lavish gift and another an affordable trinket. The bridesmaid gifts don’t have to be the same — you should tailor gifts to her likes and hobbies — but they should be equal in cost.
The only difference applies when it is the Maid of Honor, who deserves a larger and more luxurious gift because she has a special role in your wedding.

When you’re deciding how much to spend on bridesmaid gifts, remember you need one for each bridesmaid, so take that into account early (before you decide how many bridesmaids to ask) to ensure you can afford nice gifts for everyone.
