This yellow ranunculus hair pin reminds me of spring. It’s freezing outside, but at least we know spring is (somewhere) around the corner!

Low Rolled Updo aka Gibson Tuck Hairstyle

Posted January 17, 2014 by EmmalineBride | ♥ 1 Comment

I (Emma here!) love sharing hairstyle trends, whether for weddings or just a night on the town. My favorite hairstyle as of late is the low rolled updo, also known as the ‘Gibson Tuck’. This hairstyle is ideal for medium- to long- length hair (and it looks pretty easy to do yourself). While this style is an emerging trend, it’s not anything new: it’s actually a throwback style from the 1890′s. Show it off as-is or add a gorgeous hair accessory, like an embellished headband (like the one shown below). Read on to find out more…

7 Things You MUST Pack in your Wedding Bag

Posted June 18, 2013 by EmmalineBride | ♥ 10 Comments

Hello, loves! You’ve heard of emergency wedding kits in the past, but carrying around all that extra “stuff” can weigh heavily on your wedding bag. And, most wedding bags or clutches can only carry so much! Today, we’re cutting down on the clutter and sharing the seven things you must pack in your wedding bag at the very least. These carefully selected items are what we feel will keep you happy, pain-free, and embarrassment-free, too. We could always add more to the list – like mascara, and eye makeup remover – but we’re focusing more on things you’ll want to keep on hand. What would you pack in your wedding bag if you only had room for seven things? Here’s what made our cut…

DIY Fishtail Braid

Posted November 9, 2012 by EmmalineBride | ♥ 1 Comment

Happy Friday, everyone! So, I (Emma here!) need to try a new hairstyle every few months or so to mix things up. Over the last few months, I’ve been gaga for top knots, hair buns, DIY Hair Bows – even curly top knot turned side chignons (my favorite). Today, I’m here to talk about my latest hair obsession: the fishtail braid. This sweet, boho-inspired hairstyle has been gaining popularity and I see it sticking as a popular hairstyle in 2013. Whether you’re a bride-to-be looking for a perfect wedding day hairstyle or you’re like me and hoping to score a new favorite DIY ‘do, you’ll love today’s feature. Instead of keeping my own DIY fishtail braid research to myself (which is no fun for anyone), I’m sharing my favorite DIY fishtail braid finds with you today. Check out an amazing how to fishtail braid video, read a few tips, and check out Real Wedding examples below. This hairstyle is perfect for weddings, special occasions, nights out on the town, and date night! I know I’ll be giving it a try this weekend myself. So… if you have questions, share ‘em in the comments area at the bottom of the most and we’ll try to muddle through together. :) (Oh, and P.S… short-haired lovelies will find some DIY fishtail braids to try, too! This style certainly isn’t for long-haired locks alone.) Enjoy!

How to Get the Perfect Top Knot

Posted April 27, 2012 by EmmalineBride | ♥ 3 Comments

Finally… that messy bun has an official name: the top knot! I (Emma here!) have been swearing by this no-fuss hairstyle for years (albeit, mine a bit messier) and now I know: a) what to call it, and b) how to get the perfect top knot. This hairstyle has been popping up everywhere lately – even weddings – and we thought it was high time to share it with you on the blog. If you’re having a bad hair day, the top knot will become your favorite hair cheat-sheet style. Need more volume? A top knot essentially pumps up the volume of a traditional messy bun. Or, if you simply want a new hairstyle to try this weekend, try the top knot. Today, we’re showing you how to get the perfect top knot with some of our favorite hair inspiration images + DIY tutorials. We love this hairstyle because it is super easy, stylish, and cures a bad hair day in a cinch. Read on to find out more + find out how to style yours with… a sock? Don’t miss it!

Braided Hairstyles / Wedding Hairstyle Round-Up

Posted August 3, 2011 by EmmalineBride | ♥ 31 Comments

Here’s a wedding trend we’re following – and loving – at the moment: braided hairstyles! Last week, we shared with you a beautiful fishtail braid (with a fishtail braid video tutorial) and we received some lovely feedback from you, our readers. So, we’ve decided to up the ante a bit. Instead of one braided style, how about twenty braided hairstyles? We had SO much fun pulling this post together. I admittedly tried out a few (or seven?) hairstyles myself now that my hair is long enough. Trying to braid again after years was weird at first, but then it all came back to me just like riding a bike. :) I’m happy braids are making their way into the wedding world – I love their simple, chic sophistication – but I’m not convinced they ever truly went out of style. I think braids are always stylish!

We’d love to hear your thoughts on the braided hairstyles so please view the round-up below and comment with your favorite #. And… if you decide to try out a style (or, twelve) please do send us the images as we’d love to feature them in an upcoming post as part of our series. (Please send them to us here – we can’t wait to see your cute coifs!) We hope you enjoy our round-up featuring twenty of our favorite braided hairstyles fit for the bride!
