What is a sweetheart neckline?

A sweetheart neckline, one style usually found on a strapless wedding gown, features a low cut front and is scalloped with two curves on either side that hits below the collar bone. As a visual, consider the top portion of a heart across the bodice. A sweetheart neckline on a wedding gown accentuates one’s neck, collarbone, shoulders, and bust. I adore a sweetheart neckline, which is why I selected one for my own gown a few years ago. Even though you can wear a necklace with this particular style, it is certainly not required. I think sometimes the au naturale look is best!

Is a sweetheart wedding dress right for you?

It’s true what they say; when you find the perfect gown you’ll just know. With that being said, to know if it is truly the right fit for you, you’ll need to try one on. When I tried on wedding gowns, I thought I would absolutely want a strapless gown that was straight across – no sweetheart for this girl. And, wouldn’t you know… the minute I tried one on I was in love. The end result? My wedding dress had a sweetheart neckline and now it is my favorite type of dress. You never know until you give it a try. Worst case scenario: it won’t be the right style for you but at least you’ll know… and perhaps find a style you like even better!
