So, I am the matron of honor in my best friend’s wedding this July, and we’re gearing up for her shower coming up in May. Her mom is having so much fun putting together favors, which includes a handmade apron for each guest – there are a lot of guests, so you can imagine the raw talent + dedication she has! I had the privilege of a sneak peek, and … WOW. These aprons are incredible! Each apron is unique and completely handmade. She even made a custom apron for me and mentioned, “I know you like yellow and pink, eyelets and ruffles” – spot on, Mrs. Z, spot on!
Anyways… while I was helping Mrs. Z with the bridal shower preparations, I began to get excited about the day of the shower + watching as guests rip open pretty-wrapped packages of handmade aprons. It’s obvious how much I adore handmade details, but I appreciate the added sentiment her mom added to the day. I picture her spending hours selecting fabric, stitching, measuring, cutting fabric… all to make it a perfect day for her daughter – and guests, who get to open a beautiful handmade keepsake to cherish! In fact, it may even spark someone’s creativity and give them that added push to try some DIY projects on their own! When I spotted these DIY tea towel favors, I thought they, too, would make a great favor – perhaps for a bachelorette party or lingerie-themed bridal shower. This clever DIY tea towel combines a few of my favorite things: the color pink, tea, laundry (yes, I actually love doing laundry), home decor, and DIY. Yes, that pretty much covers it! If you’re not the best seamstress, you can also use a bit of fabric glue, as Jane mentions in her blog. This DIY is by Jane Avion + you can get the full DIY scoop here!
Hope you’re having a beautiful weekend. If you decide to do the above DIY, please send us pictures – we’d love to share them! {info[at]emmalinebride[dot]com}
