Are you looking for a veil like the one the Duchess of Sussex wore on her wedding day, you may be Danielle from our latest Ask Emmaline question! We all ooohed and aaahhhed at the Royal Wedding a while back, and I very distinctly remember the very long and dramatic veil Meghan Markle wore at her wedding.
Danielle writes to us,
“Hi! I’m looking for a very long veil, I know this is funny but the only long length veil I have in my mind is the one Meghan Markle wore at her wedding to Prince Harry. It was very long, floor-length but then almost had a train. Can you help?”
Great question, Danielle! According to our research, the Meghan Markle veil length was approximately 16 feet (WOW!) The closest you’ll find to that, available online or in-store, is a cathedral length veil which is slightly shorter, but honestly, unless you’re getting married at a castle you’ll probably not be able to walk down an aisle with a 16 foot veil trailing behind you. You could always get order a 16-foot veil, I suppose, it may just make it a bit hard to make your way around the ceremony. ;)
So… the next best thing to the much-sought-after Meghan Markle veil is a cathedral length veil, the LONGEST and most statement-making veil on the market. This measures around 9-10 feet in length and will definitely make a grand entrance as you walk down the aisle.
A cathedral length veil is the longest veil style and will give you that luxurious train you’re going for, and yes, I do remember Meghan Markle’s veil myself; it was absolutely stunning!
If you’re interested in a similar veil style, here are some we found some for you at Britten. These veils are EXCEPTIONAL. Sarah Bates is the designer behind Britten and she handcrafts each delicate piece of lace, tulle, hair comb, and more to ensure your veil is custom-made, just for you.
Let’s take a look at cathedral length veils from the shop!
You can choose the color tulle to match your gown perfectly: white, ivory, or champagne. In addition, you can choose any length on the veil you choose. For reference, cathedral length veils are the longest and measure 3 yards / 300cm.
You can get a veil with vintage lace, like this one:
Or an edge of lace called a mantilla lace veil (and you can have it made in cathedral length if you’d like!)
Here are additional veils from their shop. You really need to see them all; from veils and capes to necklaces and hair combs, this shop offers many beautiful bridal accessories.
You can shop these + see more here.
And while we’re on the topic, I’m so glad these veils are coming back into style. They’re a classic look with vintage undertones and we love the statement it makes as you walk down the aisle!
