5 Reasons Why Bridesmaid Earrings Make a Great Gift

Posted February 1, 2012 by EmmalineBride | ♥ 2 Comments

It is customary for the bride to give a gift to her bridesmaid to say thank you for being a great friend and for standing up in the wedding. We’ve recently received a few emails from brides asking what we’d recommend for handmade bridesmaid gifts, so today we’re sharing one of our favorite ideas: bridesmaid earrings! Read on to find out five reasons why bridesmaid earrings – particularly handmade earrings – make a great gift for your bridesmaids. PLUS, check out a few pretty pairs by handmade artisan, Ava Hope Designs, for inspiration.

Why Bridesmaid Earrings Make a Great Gift

1. Handmade – just for her

Instead of buying mass-produced, factory-direct jewelry, buy handmade! Handmade earrings are custom made, which means they are specially made for your bridesmaid. You can speak directly to the artisan rather than a call center or representative, which means you have more flexibility and personalization available. Two hands, time, and care goes into the construction of each pair, which means the gift will be appreciated by the recipient. Many artisans offer gift wrap, too, which means the box can be wrapped up in a pretty gift, ready for giving. Who doesn’t love that?

2. Color customization

Love colorful gems? Find a pair with custom colors available and order a pair to match her bridesmaid dress, tie into the wedding palette or theme, or to suit her favorite color. A pair for one bridesmaid doesn’t have to match, either; feel free to mix up styles and colors to suit her best. For my wedding, I gifted different pairs of earrings (each in sterling silver with details added to each) to each bridesmaid to suit each individual’s style. This way, she’s more likely to wear them again.

3. One size fits all

Unlike rings, necklaces, and bracelets, earrings are a one-size-fits-all jewelry piece! No worrying about size; earrings are guaranteed to fit!

4. Re-worn after the wedding

Earrings can be worn again to work, date night, or a girls’ night on the town. Unlike other gifts (like bridesmaid dresses, which are almost never worn again), she’ll happily re-wear her earrings even after the wedding day has passed. I have a few pairs of earrings I received as a bridesmaid and I love to wear them!

5. Earrings are reasonably priced

If you have many bridesmaids or you’re on a strict budget, you can usually find a gorgeous pair of handmade earrings without breaking the bank. In fact, each pair featured in this post is only $30 or less per pair!

Alternative idea for non-pierced ears

If she doesn’t have her ears pierced, consider a pair of clip-on earrings (ask for a custom pair to match the others) or a pair of pretty shoe clips instead! Many handmade earrings can be converted as a shoe clip to dress up her favorite pair of party heels.

The earrings in this post are from Ava Hope Designs, featured artisan in The Marketplace at Emmaline Bride. The designer, Terri, mentions in her profile that $1 of all sales go to benefit the Brigham & Women Hospital in Boston, a benefit she created in memory of her niece, Ava Hope. Not only will your orders support this wonderful cause, but your bridesmaids will receive a heartfelt gift, too. What could be better?

Happy Planning!

Totally agree! A friend of mine did exactly – she even had the designer make a pair for our friend with unpierced ears!
