How to Wear Flowers in Hair for Wedding
Here are some easy do’s and dont’s of how to wear flowers in hair for wedding (ceremony or reception).
1. Choose more realistic blooms.
In my opinion, fresh flowers are difficult to work with in your wedding day hairstyle. That’s why silk flowers are such a popular choice — and many look extremely realistic. Don’t choose low-quality silk flowers that look cheap, are covered in glitter, or have rhinestones. Instead, select silk flowers that look more natural. High-quality flowers may cost a bit more, but will look much prettier in person and in your wedding photos.
2. Be picky about placement.
One thing you’ll notice when you see a bride wearing flowers in her hair is the placement. You’ll want to avoid pinning a flower (or flowers) in the exact center of your head; instead, always pin slightly to one side. Here are a few examples.
This is a great way to wear a flower pinned to a low ponytail:
Cascading flowers are a beautiful choice for hair-down hairstyles. Here is an example:
Or this flower, which offers a pop of color, which proves the bride doesn’t have to wear only white or ivory blooms!
And I love this style: a single white dahlia! So pretty.
Or this single bloom pinned to an updo:
3. Be wise about size.
Choose a flower size proportional to your face. Don’t choose anything too big (it will overwhelm your look) or too small (you won’t be able to see it).
4. You can wear both.
Who says you have to pick flowers OR a veil? You can have both with these beautiful flower and veil combinations. For a larger bloom, we recommend pairing it with a mini veil; alternatively, small blooms become more visible when sewn onto a blusher veil.
