Did you know that over HALF of wedding guests never see the photos they take at a wedding?
Everyone loves to take photos and capture those special moments of a wedding day, but most of your wedding guests won’t even get to see the photos everyone takes, which leaves plenty of priceless memories left unseen.
Talk about FOMO and on the most important day, yikes!
But what if I revealed the easiest way for wedding guests to upload photos they take and share them with everyone? In this blog post, I’ll tell you exactly where wedding guests can upload pictures and share them. It’s private (password-protected), there’s no app to download, social media to use, and there’s no fancy hashtag to remember.
Ready? Let’s get started!
Upload Photos from Wedding Guests
When film was an issue, people were very selective about which photos they took.
Now that digital snapshots are virtually limitless, wedding photos are being taken more than ever before. And while you’re getting professional photos taken by your wedding photographer, guests are your wedding are still capturing some incredible candid shots, detail photos, and behind-the-scenes moments you don’t want to miss out on.
What if you never ask wedding guests to upload photos? You’ll never see these images and to be honest, they’ll probably seldom be viewed, if at all.
Don’t let your wedding day photos slip through your fingers and be lost on a digital device forever. See ALL the photos and invite guests to upload wedding photos from your ceremony and reception so you don’t miss a single snapshot.
Here’s how to have your family and friends contribute to an online gallery and share them with other wedding guests so you can get all of the photos taken at your wedding.
1. Set Up Your Gallery.
For the best results, you’ll want to plan ahead and set up the photo gallery before the wedding day.
To do so, simply navigate to LiveShare now and set up your free event.
► PRO TIP: You can make the gallery absolutely free, and add on upgrades if needed later.
2. Copy the link.
Once your gallery is created, you’ll copy the link to your gallery. This link is yours: it is where your wedding guests will upload wedding photos.
You’ll want to make the link available to your guests, so copy [CNTRL + C] the link and save it to your device.
Done? Great! Next, you’re going to turn that long link into an easy-to-use QR code for wedding guests to upload photos.
3. Make a QR Code.
Since you don’t want your guests to have to type out a long URL into a web browser — thus making it more difficult for your guests to upload their photos, defeating the purpose — you’ll be using a QR code. If you’re not sure what it is, a QR code is simply a black-and-white code that links to a webpage on a Smartphone device or tablet.
HOW IT WORKS: A QR code is easy to use. When a user opens their camera and hovers over the QR code with their camera lens, it provides a link they can tap on with their finger and lead to a webpage. By doing so, you simply scan and go — no need to enter a webpage or navigate on a web browser.
Everyone will love the utility of this: it’s easier than ever for wedding guests to upload photos to your gallery.
Make a QR Code
It’s easy to make one: use this QR code generator. You’ll enter the link in the URL line, then click “Download”. Here’s an image for reference where I circled where to enter the link and then where the download button is.
Then you’ll download the QR code to your device. Here’s mine:
See? It’s easy! :)
Now that you have your gallery for wedding guests to upload photos and a QR code to your individual link, let’s put the two together for your event.
You’re going to create a sign that will publicize and encourage photo uploading for wedding guests. Without publicizing it, they may not even know such a gallery exists (so their photos will go unseen, yikes!)
Click here to make a sign like this one. You can customize it here. On it, you’ll open a customizer and edit your own details, import your QR code image, and then print. You can have a sign printed and shipped to your door or download the file and print it at home (or at a local print shop).
Then, frame it and place it at your wedding reception where guests will easily see it.
Where to Place Your Upload Photos Sign
The best places to put your sign on display is where guests won’t miss it! The first place is the entryway of your reception, nearby the escort cards or seating chart. Next, you’ll place one at the bar. And finally, you can include a small sign at each table near the table number so your guests can use it while taking a break from dancing.
You can even COMBINE your table number with your photo sharing request! This table number and photo sharing combination sign is perfect for your event. Get it here.
Alternative to Uploading Photos at Your Wedding
If you forget to ask guests to upload their photos while at the wedding, what is an alternative way to collect the photos taken at your wedding? Ask guests with enclosure cards inside your thank you notes!
Simply include these small cards inside your thank you cards. The enclosure cards state you’d love it if your wedding guests upload photos to your gallery.
It’s a nice way to encourage everyone to share their pictures post-wedding.
Plus, it gets them off of those digital devices!
Keeping Photos Safe
Worried about keeping your priceless memories safe? No worries: you can keep your wedding photos private thanks to password protection. You’ll have gate access to your event with a unique passcode required for viewing.
And there you have it: now you can finally get all of the photos guests take at your wedding, without an app, and on any device.
I hope this helps you achieve your goal of getting your guests to upload photos they take. If you have any questions or get stuck, just ask in the comment box below. I’ve used this myself, and it’s one of the best wedding photo upload sites I’ve ever used.
