The latest Ask Emmaline question popped into our inbox this weekend (keep sending them in, we love reading ’em!) and it’s a very special one. Teresa’s father passed away a few years ago and she is getting married in the summer. She asked her brother to walk her down the aisle and wants to give a special brother of the bride gift. But she’s not sure what to give as a thoughtful present.
“Hi Emmaline! I’m writing about a unique wedding situation. My father passed away a few years back and my brother has agreed to walk me down the aisle. I want to give him a gift to thank him but brother of the bride gift ideas aren’t exactly easy to find. Can you help?”
Teresa, our condolences on the loss of your father and thank you for writing about your wedding question. How wonderful it is to have such a wonderful brother in your life, and that he is going to walk you down the aisle on your wedding day. It will be a special moment to cherish.
The idea of giving him a brother of the bride gift to show your appreciation is a sweet idea.
For your situation, and perhaps for other brides looking to give specialty brother of the bride gifts to theirs (maybe your brother is even your man of honor?), we’ve found some excellent suggestions.
Since we’re not sure what he’s into, we’ve got a few different options: brother of the bride gift ideas for travelers, golfers, t-shirt wearers, beer sippers, outdoorsmen, and more.
And before we start, here’s a tip:
Some brides do not have a father to walk them down the aisle, due to death, illness, or personal reasons; this is something that happens but there’s always an option for this. Some brides ask their brother to walk them down the aisle; others ask their mother, sister, cousin, aunt, uncle, grandparent, or a friend. As you can see, the person you choose doesn’t have to be male; it can be anyone you love who will be there to support you on your wedding day. Some brides walk down the aisle solo. It’s completely up to you.
Now… let’s get to the gifts!
