Rustic Card Box + How to DIY

I am in love with rustic wedding details. So, when I spotted this rustic card box I knew I just had to spread the love! Since we hone in on handmade here at Emmaline Bride, I’m going to show you how easy it is to DIY this decor with a few handmade finds. You need just a few supplies to get started and you can reuse this box after the wedding in your love nest. Add your own touches to make it as simple or as ornate as your little heart desires. Please keep these key-points in mind: be sure the vintage milk crate or wire basket is deep enough to allow for all cards to fit and place the box in a high traffic, well-lit area (just to be on the safe side). You can also use it to hold your guest book ‘well wishes’, or for your bridal shower as a recipe card holder.
supplies ::
- vintage milk crate or wire basket
- ornate frame
- hot glue gun
- chalkboard paint
- crochet lace adornments
- natural jute twine
- chalk
- hammer and two nails

How-To
It’s easy…
1. apply a few coats of chalkboard paint to the inside portion of the ornate frame
2. when dry, use your hot glue gun to apply crochet lace to the upper left-hand corner of the frame
(feel free to add any other adornments you wish)
3. hammer two nails into the back of the frame, one on each side at the top
4. hang the chalkboard frame to the basket by threading it through and securing to the nails with a knotted bow
5. write ‘cards’ onto the chalkboard using chalk
6. place + enjoy!
