This time of year as the nights get cozier, I’m always looking for a new project to do while watching my favorite Christmas movie. And since I’m in the crafting spirit, I thought I’d share a favorite one with you today! These DIY wood escort cards are an awesome idea for your reception to help guests find their seats. I love this idea for winter weddings, but you can make it work for spring or summer with different colored ribbon. These escort “cards” also make great place cards at your wedding or holiday party. Ready to get started? Check out everything you need to know below!
DIY Wood Escort Cards
This DIY project couldn’t be easier! All you need is five affordable supplies:
where to buy //
1 – wood slices 5-6cm | get them here
2 – cordless drill | get it here
3 – ribbon (any color to coordinate with your theme) | get it here
4 – ultra fine point marker | get it here
5 – photo hanging kit | get it here
how it’s done //
1. Drill hole in top of each wood slice with your cordless drill.
2. Write each guest’s name on a wood slice. Use the ultra fine point marker, as it will make writing in small space easier to do (and it won’t bleed through, fade, or smudge). I love these markers and use them for almost every craft project.
3. Cut a piece of ribbon (approx. 8 inches long) for each wood slice and tie it into a bow for hanging.
4. Hang each escort card (in alphabetical order, as this is easier for guests to find) onto your photo hanging kit. Hang the escort “cards” (wood rounds) from the ribbon, since it is easier to hang with the small clothespins.
And that’s it!
See how easy? :)
