Can you wear block heels to a wedding? Sure you can!
Can you wear wedding shoes with block heel styling if you’re the bride? Of course!
You know what we say around here — you do you! — and also, according to etiquette, it is perfectly acceptable to wear any kind of bridal shoe that you like best. And they must definitely be comfortable wedding shoes. That’s a plus!
You should also place heavy emphasis on picking out a pair of shoes that you can actually walk in without wincing down the aisle, walking too slow, or wobbling. So there’s that. :) And that’s one reason why bridal shoes with block heels are actually preferred vs. thin heels or even stilettos: they’re much easier to walk around in, and work great different levels of terrain.
That’s right: block heels won’t sink in grass, rocks, or sand unlike those super-skinny stilettos will. This means block heels for outdoor wedding venues are an excellent choice.
Block heels make it easier to walk around because you have support. And since you have a nice sturdy heel height, you’ll get that elegant walk down the aisle to really make your presence known. There’s something about walking down the aisle in heels vs. flat shoes that makes a really grand entrance.
A sturdy pair of block heels will also help to avoid any rocks or uneven grass, making yourself feel more confident when walking in them if you’re not wearing heels on the regular.
I think I speak for most of us here when I say, um, we’ve been sort of trapped indoors for a while, so lately my go-to are these trusty flats, ha! But I should really step up my heel game, tbh.
In this post, we’re sharing fifty (yup, we did some serious digging) of the best wedding shoes with a block heel to prove how stylish comfort can be! And to prove to myself just how many different kinds of bridal block heels are available because I had no idea how many I would find (and fall in love with, and add to my own wish list).
As a bonus, you’ll find that many of these bridal block heels are re-wearable after the wedding, so you’re putting them to good use on your wedding day and beyond on special occasions.
Let’s get started!
Block Heels Wedding
This chunky style of heel is comfortable, sturdy, and on-trend. Here are some other frequently asked questions about bridal block shoes.
Are all block heels tall?
No! Like any heel, block heels offer a variety of sizes. We typically see 3 inch or 2 inch block wedding heels as the most popular; platform styles are around the 4.5 inch heel height and are also a stylish choice.
You can get platform block heels for wedding day attire, or go low for comfortable block heels for wedding aisle walks. If you’re not a frequent heel-wearer, you may feel more comfortable in short block heels. We have a mix of both styles in this post so you can see the difference.
Do my shoes need to match my dress?
Yes! Your shoes should match your dress if you’re choosing a neutral such as ivory, white, or champagne. This is because if your dress is white and you choose ivory block heels, they’ll appear “dirty” just because of the difference in shade.
Want to go bold? Go for it! If you want to choose a bright pop of color or coordinate your shoes with bridesmaids, that’s totally fine! You can definitely wear a colorful pair of shoes instead, as long as the color somehow goes with an aspect of your wedding: the theme, your wedding colors, or the color of the bridesmaid dresses, just as a few examples. :) Your block heels should be seasonal, too: e.g., choose a bright pop of pink for spring or summer, or opt for emerald green or burgundy wedding block heels (even velvet block heels) in the fall and winter.
Here’s an example of ruby red block shoes (from ForeverSoles/a>):
