Camden Falls Wedding
Erica tells us, “Standing at the back of the church with my bridesmaids gathered around me, I felt oddly calm. The girls kept asking, ‘Are you nervous? Are you okay?’ But I was more than okay. I’d been waiting for this moment for my entire life–even before I met Mike. But when I did meet him, I knew that he was everything I wanted forever. I saw my dad standing by the big wooden church door out of the corner of my eye. I smiled. He smiled. As the girls made their way down the aisle one by one, I elbowed him and said, ‘Don’t make me cry.’ He smiled and promised.”
“Just hours before, I’d woken up at my parents’ house as a single woman for the last time. All morning, mimosas in hand, I got ready with the ladies and peeked at Mike through the window as they took pictures of him outside. I let my fingertips touch the tulle on the dress I ordered weeks after getting engaged because it was everything I could of dreamed of in a wedding gown. Everything was perfect.”
“My dad gave me away in front of a sea of faces that I knew and loved, and Mike took my hand and helped me up the step of the altar and I knew that he would take care of me for the rest of my life. He never looked more handsome and more inviting than he did at that moment. We listened to what the priest said, smiled adoringly at our parents and family members, and squeezed each others hands as the ceremony went on. Mike and I already felt the day rushing past us, and we knew that once we said our vows without stuttering that the rest of the night would fly just as fast. So we made a point to be ourselves, to look at one another, and to realize that this was the beginning of everything.”
“In the limo ride on the way to the reception, we got stuck behind a tractor in true Ohio fashion, and we laughed. Our guests were so excited for our reception that they opened the doors to the gorgeously decorated hall an hour early and stayed open late so that we could celebrate. The toasts were made of the perfect words and the songs matched the beat in our hearts as we held one another, held our family, and held our love as close as we could.”
“We couldn’t have asked for a better day, for better people to be involved, and for a better marriage. Everyone who played a part added an element to our wedding day that truly made it perfect. Looking back on the pictures, Mike and I were both in awe as we fondly remembered each moment. While it had gone by in a whisper, we were lucky to have a photographer that caught it for us with her camera, like snagging a bouquet from the air.”
A great wedding day is a culmination of great things and great people, and if you’re lucky, you get both. Mike and I were very lucky. The people we involved in our wedding day cared as much as we did, and we’re happy to now call many of them friends.”
