Here’s the interview!
What is the name of your business?
“My Little Chickadee Creations.”
When did you begin your business?
“It began on March 1st, 2009.”
Tell us more about how My Little Chickadee Creations began.
“I’ve been rubber stamping for about 20 years, as a hobby. In 2009, I was working at home as a medical transcriptionist and had 2 little ones at home. I opened my Etsy shop first as a way to sell some crafting supplies. At the same time, as a creative outlet from being a full time work at home mom I started working with travertine tile. I started just putting a few coaster favors up in my shop, never thinking this would be become a full time business.”
Do you want to give a shout-out to anyone?
“Shout out to my husband and kids! For the most part I’m the full time person working my business but when I get a little extra busy (or am doing local craft events) my husband and kids help me package up orders or haul stuff to craft fairs.”
What are your products made of?
“All my products are made from natural stone travertine tile. I use 4 x 4 tiles for my coasters. I stamp and paint the designs onto the tile, bake the tile and add felt pads. Because the designs are baked in, the coasters are absorbent and the design won’t smudge. I also work with larger 6 x 6 tiles to make kitchen trivets and smaller tiles for magnets, worry stones and ornaments. All my designs can be personalized and make great wedding gifts and favors.”
When is your favorite time to create or design?
“Early morning!”
What inspires you most when working on new creations?
“Nature. And color!”
What is your best-selling product?
“My state outline coaster favors.”
“I use travertine tile, paint, ink, rubber stamps, and ribbon.”
“I love working with couples and their vision. I’ve come up with some great designs and color combinations because of working with couples, helping them to take their creative ideas into the products I make. There were times when a couple wanted certain color combinations that I personally didn’t think would work and when we are done with the project I just love it.”
“Instagram!”
Do you have any new products coming out soon?
“I’m always working on designs, sometimes inspired by trends otherwise inspired by what moves me.”
“Don’t worry! Enjoy the moments, in the moment.”
Great advice!
“Yes! Use EMMALINEBRIDE5 (no exp date) at checkout. Bulk wedding orders are already discounted… you can enjoy 5% off that cost.”
