How to Pick a Veil or Fascinator
By Lori Wilson, Co-Founder | OBMBridal
You’ve picked a wedding dress, now what? For many people, the wedding veil turns the bride into the bride! At OBMBridal, we agree that a wedding veil is a wonderful accessory for a bride who feels that it expresses her style and works with the wedding venue. However, for brides who want a less traditional wedding day look or want to showcase their personality by adding color, a beautiful fascinator is the answer – not just for the bride, but also for the bridesmaids.
A wedding veil or fascinator can add a wow factor to any dress, especially an understated dress with clean lines. Here are some pointers for selecting the right accessories to complement your wedding dress:
Tips on How to Pick a Veil
1. Start early.
We recommend selecting your accessories three months before the wedding. Try them on during your gown fitting to get a sense of your overall look. Take your veil or fascinator to your hair trial in order to decide where to place your veil (fascinators should be worn on the side of your head, toward the front and on an angle).
2. Don’t be afraid to select more than one accessory.
Even if you aren’t changing dresses or your hairstyle, you can use the time between the ceremony and reception to switch from a wedding veil to a fascinator to refresh your look.
3. Your overall look doesn’t need to be matchy-matchy.
Fascinators can add bling, contrast, or a pop of color.
4. Small embellishments can have a big impact.
For the bride who wants a classic look, try a veil with lace trimming. For a contemporary look, try a veil with rhinestones or other whimsical embellishments.
No matter what type of accessory you select – a veil, fascinator, or even a wedding belt, we believe bridal accessories truly help the bride express her personal style and shine on her wedding day. Cheers!
