Ladies: listen up! Today we’re talking about what to wear under the dress. The wedding dress, to be exact. It’s important to wear the proper wedding shapewear to get that perfect fit. Today we’re tackling underwear. Bridal lingerie. Support. Proper straps. Size. Fit. Comfort. Pulling it all in. Tying it all together. Wearing something that makes you confident. Comfortable. Happy. Hugging those curves. The proper fit is the most important thing when it comes to the perfect wedding dress and, by picking the wrong undergarments, you could be getting a less-than-perfect fit. Read on to find out what to wear under your wedding dress and why it’s important. Oh, and gentlemen, if you’re reading this, head over to this post while us ladies get down to business.
What to Wear Under the Dress
When you get fitted for your dress, it is essential to wear your wedding shapewear to the fitting(s). How the dress fits depends on your body AND shapewear or lingerie you wear under the dress. The day of the wedding is not the time to wear new shapewear or underwear; it begins way back at your dress fittings.
When I spoke to the lovelies over at Triumph, one of the largest makers of lingerie in the world, I was impressed by their offerings of shapewear and gorgeous bridal lingerie. I wish I knew about this brand while planning my wedding, since I relied on whatever I could find at the store at the time. And, let me be the first to tell you: stuff at stores isn’t that attractive. I’m talking big, bulky undergarments that leave much to be desired. They weren’t sexy, they weren’t sultry. They just were what they were: undergarments. Instead, though, Triumph strives to be the eminent leader in gorgeous lingerie and shapewear to hug your curves, be totally seamless, and make you feel oh-so-sexy.
Now, I’ll be the first to say that ordering lingerie online? No thanks. I love to see pieces in person. But now that I’ve had the chance to see these for myself (Triumph sent product so I could feel the quality), I’m forever changed. And, can I tell you a secret? I’m an avid lover of Aerie and Victoria’s Secret, but after trying these bras — and I’m not even joking — I actually said, “WOW. This is how a bra is supposed to fit.” It’s like a glove.
This isn’t your momma’s shapewear. This is luxurious, lacy, sexy, and just perfect for the, ahem, honeymoon.
One of the biggest mistakes brides make when picking their wedding undergarments is forgetting about the proper straps. Or, if you have an open back wedding dress, having something that keeps getting in the way. Nothing is as annoying as pulling at your lingerie to keep it properly in place. There’s this shapewear in a dress style that Triumph offers which has removable straps. You can also change the straps (they’re a convertible strap style) for a halter or cross back style. (Bridesmaids: You’ll love these, too, for your dresses!) Here are some examples, along with other hand-picked finds from their shop:
If a bodysuit or dress-style isn’t for you, there are high-waisted shapewear options that will also pull everything, um, in. You know what I’m talking about.
Oh, and how gorgeous are these? I think they’re oh-so-lovely for the honeymoon.
What are you waiting for? Now that you know what to wear under your wedding dress, it’s time to pick your favorite. Head over to Triumph and tell them Emmaline Bride sent you! We see you can even get 10% off if you sign up for their newsletter. There are also huge sales going on now, too. Just passing it on! ♡

P.S. When ordering lingerie online — from anywhere! — make sure you take the proper measurements. It’s just as important to have the undergarments sized properly to give you that seamless, ultra-flattering fit.
