Are you tossing the garter at your reception? Or are you planning on wearing one? Either way, you’ve come to the right place to find your perfect bridal garter. Today we’ll tell you why you need a tossing garter and where to buy wedding garter sets with inspiring designs by Knotted & Bent. But first, we’re answering a garter-related question submitted by bride-to-be, Stacy. She asks,
“Hi Emmaline, Question… I am tossing my garter at my reception but I’m confused. Am I supposed to toss my actual garter? Or a toss garter? Do I need to buy a separate tossing garter?”
Hi, Stacy! Great question. If you’re tossing the garter at your wedding, you’ll definitely want to get a complete garter set. Wedding garter sets come with one bridal garter, which is larger and more detailed, plus a coordinating tossing garter. Why do you need both, you ask? You’ll need a tossing garter if you either a) plan to have the groom remove it either at the reception (or honeymoon!) or b) you want to keep your wedding garter as a memento, which many brides do. It’s more of a personal preference, I suppose; after buying an elegant garter, many brides want to hold on to it as a keepsake from the wedding day.
For these reasons, many garter designers make wedding garter sets which include a wedding garter and a tossing garter. Wear both garters on one leg (with the bridal garter above the tossing garter) so it is easy to remove for tossing.
