Are you planning to pop the question, but you need to find The Ring first? Has she mentioned something along the lines of wanting a non-traditional engagement ring, such as a herkimer diamond, gemstone, or unique pearl engagement rings instead of a traditional diamond?
Well, you’re in luck! But first, a story…
When Andrew and I were dating — we were about 15 or 16 years old at the time — I knew I wanted to marry him. I know, that seems so funny to say, as we were so young; but it’s true. When you know, you just know. And while we didn’t talk about it in serious wedding-planning-mode (as in, let’s book a DJ, invite people, chicken or fish, what song should we dance to, the whole nine yards) until college, as a twenty-something-year-old I envisioned engagement rings. In the back of my mind, I always loved diamonds, as well as a unique alternative: pearls!
But where can you even buy genuine pearl engagement rings? Who sells such a thing?
To make a long story short, I am so happy with my diamond engagement ring that he surprised me with in college, after walking alongside a river and bending down on one knee at our favorite cider mill.
But if I really wanted to toss pearl engagement rings into the mix, I didn’t have a clue where to buy pearl engagement rings, or who even makes them. They push the whole diamonds are forever campaign and make you think you need to spend x dollars on a diamond, but no one talks about the pearl lovers! Pearls last forever, too, people!
And in case you were wondering, pearls have a very symbolic meaning which makes them ideal candidates for engagement rings. “Pearls symbolize wisdom acquired through experience; pearls are also believed to attract wealth and luck, as well as offer protection. Pearls symbolize purity, generosity, integrity, and loyalty of its wearer” (via here).
Anyways, fast forward years later and I find these. Incredible, eco-friendly, unique pearl engagement rings that are one-of-a-kind. Handmade. Built to last. Backed by happy customers.

We sat down with Meropi to find out more about her beautiful jewelry collection, her unique pearl engagement rings and alternatives, and why she loves working with couples. Here’s the interview!
When did you begin your business? Where are you based?
“Meropi’s Art Jewelry began in 2012. I am based in Cyprus.”
How did you get started with your company?
“I believe that every woman on this planet is unique and deserves the very best, that’s why my Etsy shop was born. Looking for new adventure, new creative ways to express myself, I came across with metal clays. I knew from the very first moment that I found my material. A material that is recycled and it is aligned completely with my values for the protection of our planet. Soft putty that transforms in your hands and gives the most amazing unique pieces of pure silver jewellery. I didn’t want to keep my Art for my small environment that’s why I opened my Etsy shop to share it with the whole world. The pieces that I design are very precious to me, are strong, powerful and will always remain in fashion.”
Who else is on your team?
“I am a one woman show no team, everything is done by me.”

What inspires you most to create?

What materials do you work with?
“Recycled pure silver, recycled 24c gold leaf, Akoya pearls, raw diamonds and other natural stones.”
What is your favorite part about working with couples?
“Working with couples always makes me feel a huge responsibility. I know that the rings I will make for them are so important and they will accompany them for the rest of their life. At the other hand it gives me joy knowing that my rings are part of their beautiful journey. Often I am receiving emails from my customers telling me about the proposal and it is soooo sweet.”
Do you have any new products coming out soon?
“A new line of engagement rings inspired by the sea and new wedding band designs.”
