UPDATED 2019
Hi loves! It’s time for a new Ask Emmaline wedding question! This one comes to us from mother-of-the-groom, Pat. She wants to give her son a keepsake gift on his wedding day, but she is stumped on what to give. She writes…
“Hi Emmaline Bride! I love your blog and my (future) daughter-in-law reads it all the time. I need some advice. My husband and I want to give a gift to our son on his wedding day. We plan to give them a monetary gift in addition; this would be a small gift as a keepsake from his day. Do you have any gift ideas for the groom from his parents? Thank you!”
Hi Pat! Thank you for writing. That’s a great question. We have received requests for gifts for moms, gift ideas for newly engaged couples, and gifts for the bride from the groom — so it is nice to see a wedding gift request for the groom from his parents. What a sweet gesture! For your son, I would recommend something he can use on the day of the wedding. Three ideas that come to mind instantly: a wedding handkerchief, a pair of cuff links, or a tie clip. These three things are sure to become keepsakes and be enjoyed for years to come. Each item can also be personalized for an extra-special gift. Here are some ideas to inspire you…
Gift for Groom from Parents
As mentioned above, here are three gifts for the groom from his parents.
1. Wedding Handkerchief
One of the sweetest gifts for the groom on his wedding day has to be this handkerchief. This groom’s parents had it designed from Canyon Embroidery and it has a custom heartfelt message embroidered onto it. A gentleman always carries a handkerchief, and his wedding is the best day to have a handkerchief on hand… if even to offer to his bride! :)
2. Cufflinks
When looking for cufflinks for the groom, it’s hard to choose the right pair to the groom from his parents. Many are intended for the groom from his bride; however, this pair of cufflinks would be a great fit. For groom cufflinks, consider his monogram, the couple’s initials, wedding date, a favorite hobby or sports team, or even a map of a favorite place to travel (or his hometown). 3. Tie Clip
And last but not least, a tie clip makes a great gift for the groom from his parents. Here is one we spotted from Sierra Metal Design:
I hope you liked these gift suggestions! Your son will love any of these gifts on his wedding day. Congratulations to him and his future bride!
