Let me preface this post by saying I absolutely love flowers. Fresh, sunny springtime tulips in yellow are near the top of my list, just a close second after cupped peonies in pretty pinks at the beginning of June. (The best.) But there’s one thing I think we can all agree on that really stinks about flowers: they die, they wilt, and they fade.
And while flowers are one of the most traditional gifts given to moms on Mother’s Day, as birthday present, anniversary gifts, and given as bouquets to bridesmaids at weddings, they don’t last. They go in the garbage. And that stinks, I say!
The other day I was admiring a floral necklace I spotted somewhere, and it got me thinking of the many alternatives to giving flowers as gifts. Sure, flowers are nice – but what about gifts for people who love flowers that never have to end? So, I gathered up all the best gifts for people who love flowers that aren’t actually flowers. So, there’s no tossing them in the garbage later on. They don’t get that weird stinky smell after they begin to wilt. These gift finds never fade, die, or get tossed away in the trash with last week’s lasagna. I know, sorry, gross visual. Ha!
In this blog post, I aim to please your flower-lovin’ soul with the best alternative gifts to flowers. These are ideas for moms – mother’s day is right around the corner! – bridesmaids, Maids of Honor, sisters, friends, and anyone in your life that needs a little springtime pick-me-up in the form of a flower-inspired gift.
From birth flower jewelry pieces to floral-embellished totes, real flowers encased in gold (whaaaa?!) to the cutest cardigan ever, this is the ultimate list for people who love the beauty of a flower without that annoying throw-away part.
OK, that’s it, let’s get down to flower business.

Want more ideas? Let’s chat about other ways to infuse flowers into your gift-giving!
Flower Infused Products
When it comes to people who love flowers, we know the scent is probably their number one reason – and of course, the bright colors. But you can get the scent of flowers by using flower-infused products, like natural rose-scented candles or lavender-infused body oils. I like to use essential oils in my diffuser at home and the lavender scent is always my favorite. They say there’s a property in lavender than promotes relaxation, so that’s an added bonus.
► Try this: Try this lavender oil that is natural, vegan, and handcrafted with love
Dried Flower Decor
For flower lovers, drying the flowers is one way to preserve the beauty forever. And although they look a bit different when they’re dried, I think it’s a pretty unique keepsake item. There are ways to get the dried flower look yourself. Look into YouTube videos and try out various methods of drying a bouquet of roses (I’ve tried drying them upside-down before, and they remained very fragrant and retained their shape, although they were a bit fragile). Some artists on Etsy sell items like dried flower wreaths or pressed flower art (try this one, my favorite); both make excellent gifts.
► Try this: Pressed Floral are experts in their craft of floral preservation. Check ’em out. You won’t regret it.
Flower-Themed Accessories
If you’re still looking for more accessories with a floral theme, try scarves, floral cuff bracelets, or flowery sandals for the summertime. You can find almost any item with flowers on it, you just need to know what you’re looking for first. :)
Personalized Flower Gifts
Whenever you’re looking to give a present, personalization is key! When you give personalized flower pots, mugs, photo frames, or other items, the gift-recipient will be so appreciative. It will be an item they won’t already own, so that’s a plus. And these customized gifts make the gesture really special and sentimental.
Flower Subscriptions
Lastly, ok – I get it. You still love flowers. So do I! Maybe if you’re looking to buy gifts for people who love flowers, but they don’t like when they wilt, maybe they just need more of them. Give them a flower subscription so they can have the convenience of flower deliveries on the regular. When one bouquet is almost gone, the next one arrives! It’s the perptual blooming of fresh, fragrant flowers – and can you really put a price on that?
► Try: BloomsyBox – they have awesome flower subscription services.
Anyway, that was fun! I love putting together these gift guides. These flower gifts for people who don’t like fresh flowers (or like them, but hate tossing them away) are perfect alternatives! And if you want to give flowers with these gifts, too, then so be it. The best of both worlds! :)
I hope you enjoy this list as much as I like the fun of putting it together! Which flowery find is your fave? Tell me in the comment box below!
