One of the big questions that stumped me while planning my wedding was what to buy for the groomsmen in the bridal party. It always seemed easy to find gifts for the bridesmaids, but there was a definite lack of options on the groomsmen gift-buying front. In past years engraved flasks, shot glasses and handkerchiefs seemed to be all the rage. My brother was a groomsmen in a few weddings, and I think after just a couple he had a mini-collection of initialed memorability to his name that he’d likely never use again.
So, why is it customary to give a ‘thank you’ gift to a groomsman? For starters, if your wedding is May through September the poor guy is going to be dressed head to toe in long sleeves, long pants and a jacket, standing in the sun + sweating his you-know-what off (or freezing his you-know-what off during those other months). But, he’ll keep a big smile on his face for the pictures and he won’t complain, not even a little bit. He is also expected to attend many wedding parties such as the engagement party, rehearsal dinner, bachelor party (though he probably doesn’t mind this one), early morning wedding day prep, the ceremony, the reception… that’s a lot to ask of a person! Not to mention chipping in for the bachelor party, buying a wedding gift, renting his tux and shoes (that hurt), and keeping an eye on uncle-drinks-too-much. You owe him something fun, creative + personalized to say, hey, thanks for being a great friend. The solution? HANDMADE! Handmade items pick up on the biggest key element missing from those big box chains: a personal touch!
With that being said… we have rounded up a gift-giving guide (volume one of an ongoing series!) for the groomsmen. Since handmade offers tons of creative options, we have a feeling these quirky, fun + man-approved gifts will be just the thing to show your appreciation. And, ladies, Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, so if you’re looking for a gift for your husband or hubby-to-be, we’ve got you covered. ♥ Enjoy!
And, as always, we have more coming atcha later today so stay tuned!

What a fun, usable post! These are all fantastic ideas!
Amazing roundup! My hubby is getting #8 for Valentine’s. We got married at San Francisco City Hall and part of the Dirty Harry film was shot there… Fun!
i LOVE #5, #8, and #9 and they’ve all been approved by isaiah…they’re all badass…that bag is my fave…
As a guy, all of these gifts are awesome. If I wasn’t already married, I’d have an excuse to buy them. Defiantly cooler than the usual groomsmen gifts. I think I might have to spring for friends, than throw one in for me.
I love number 2 & 12…not just for the guys! I would totally buy those for myself
