Hi, loves! Emma here. OK — if you’re like me and in need of some serious hairstyle changes, listen up: this product will change your life. I don’t normally talk about products here but this one is so good I can’t ignore it. The Octowand curling wand by NuMe is one of the best curling wands on the market. I wholeheartedly give it five stars out of five. Read on to find out why!
Octowand Curling Wand
My hair is shoulder-length (maybe even a bit longer, as I’m growing it) and straight. For the last, hmm, five months I think I’ve worn my hair in a bun almost exclusively. Suffice it to say, it was time for a change and I needed a little volume in my hair. Enter: The Octowand. I’ve looked at curling wands in the past, but I’m an old-school curling iron girl. I did not think I could handle a curling wand because it has no clip attached. How will it hold?! Will I be able to make curls around my entire head by just holding the hair in place? And then I gave it a whirl and I knew it was my new favorite hair product.
Specs
Unlike other curling wands that offer simply one barrel size to use for styling, the Octowand has eight barrels that are interchangeable with its base. The Octowand curling wand includes the following barrel sizes:
o 13mm (1/2″)
o 19mm (3/4″)
o 25mm (1″)
o Reverse 18mm to 9mm
o Reverse 13mm to 25mm
o Reverse 25mm to 18mm
o 32mm (1-1/4″)
o 13mm-25mm (1/2″-1″) = Reverse (narrower at tip)
Plus, a bonus ‘pearl’ barrel which makes amazing waves!
o Pearl (alternating 13mm and 25mm diameter)
Unlike a curling iron which uses a clip-like mechanism to hold hair in place, you use a heat-resistant glove which comes with your Octowand. The heat-resistant glove makes it easy to use your hand to hold your curl in place. (Note: You should curl hair each section of hair for a minimum of 10 seconds for greater lasting power.)
So how did I like it? I was able to try the Octowand myself and I truly love it! It is really nice to have all barrels in one convenient carrying case and fun to change up my look in a snap. Plus, the curling wand heats up to a maximum of 450 degrees (and quickly, too!) for professional styling results.
Not bad for my first time! It was easy to get the hang of it after a few minutes, especially with the heat-resistant glove. It’s so much easier to use my hand instead of a clip (which, as you may remember from curling irons, ALWAYS leaves that annoying kink if you’re not careful). Not here! Just effortless soft curly waves.
I’m going to a wedding soon and plan to use the pearl barrel to make waves, or try a smaller barrel for tighter curls. And yes, lots of hairspray to keep it all in place. I’ll let you know how it goes! Plus, I love the flexibility to change my style with the change of a barrel. It’s so easy.
Disclosure: I received an Octowand curling wand to review on the blog. If I didn’t like it, I’d be the first to tell you about it — promise. At Emmaline Bride, we believe in honest reviews and will only tell you if a product is worthy. I adore this curling wand and think you will, too!
So, have you ever tried a curling wand? Did you like it?
