Hi, loves, Emma here and I had really seen it all in invites… and then acrylic wedding invitations come along! We’ve seen invites printed on unique materials before (I mean, we’ve seen ’em printed on wood and handkerchiefs, just to name a few), but plastic is something new! Today we’re talking about acrylic wedding invitations, one of the biggest trends in weddings right now. We’re loving this modern, minimalist trend and we think you will, too.
If you’re wondering how practical acrylic wedding invitations really are (I had a dozen questions myself), we’ll tell you what you need to know. Instead of printing invitations on paper, these are printed on clear plastic acrylic cards and can be mailed as normal. Here are three things to know about acrylic invitations before you buy.
Acrylic Wedding Invitations: 3 Things to Know
1. Acrylic wedding invitations are completely custom.
You can choose the typography, design, wording, size, and more on acrylic invitations, and order samples to see in person, just as you would with traditional paper invites.
2. Acrylic doesn’t necessarily cost more than paper invitations.
Despite what you may think (and what I naturally assumed right off the bat myself), acrylic invitations aren’t really much more expensive than paper. For instance, we’ve seen clear wedding invitations from here for as low as $1.49 each, some similar pricing from here, too. We’ve seen most stationery shops charging around $2 to $4 each, but keep in mind this price can vary depending on how many you order, the size, the printing customizations, colors, embellishments (like ribbons, specialty enclosures, envelope paper style), etc., just as prices vary with standard wedding invitations.
3. Acrylic wedding invitations can be mailed (with the same postage rate as normal).
My first instinct was these would be too heavy to mail! However, most acrylic wedding invitations you’ll find here feature a thickness of 15 mil which can be sent via a regular envelope, just as you would with classic wedding invitations, and no additional postage is required. (Yay!)
