Ah, I love a new wedding advice question! This invitation advice comes to us from bride-to-be, Shannon, who wants to know where to get wedding invitations that include her parents names.
She also wants to know what makes a difference in displaying the names of parents — or whether that’s a tradition most couples don’t use anymore.
Let’s discuss it!
Wedding Invitations With Parents Names On Them
She writes,
“Hi Emmaline! I’m ordering invites for my wedding. I’m wondering where I can get classic wedding invitations with our parents names on them. We’re paying for our wedding ourselves, but my fiancé and I think it will be a nice gesture to include our parents’ names on the invitations. They have supported us in many other ways and I think they’ll like to see their names included. Is this OK? Thanks for your input.”
Great question, Shannon!
As a rule of thumb, yes, it is perfectly acceptable to include your parents names on the wedding invitations regardless of who is hosting.
Etiquette-wise, the names typically denote who is hosting; however, it is a nice gesture to include your parents names on the wedding invitations and I think you should go for it!
While this type of invitation is usually more formal, there are both informal and formal wedding invitations here with parents names mentioned at the top. Either way, you’ll have a great variety of invites to choose from, all of which include the names of parents nicely written out.

Thanks so much for writing and I hope it helps!
