Do bridesmaids need robes? Who pays for bridesmaid robes? And are bridesmaid robes worth it? Ah, so many questions — let’s tackle it! Subscribe now for the latest to your inbox.
Are bridesmaid robes worth it? This question came to us from Jolene who wants to get bridesmaid robes for her girls. But she doesn’t want to buy them if they’re not a good idea. That makes sense to us!
She writes,
“Hi Emmaline Bride, I’m buying bridesmaid gifts at the moment and I’m thinking of giving them robes. Are bridal party robes worth it? Are they still popular? The bride buys them, right, or who pays for bridesmaid robes? Thanks so much!”
Great questions. Let’s dive right in, shall we?
We covered this in a recent vlog on our IG and TikTok accounts.

Are bridesmaid robes a good gift?
First things first: are bridesmaid robes worth it? Heck yes, they are! Bridal party robes grew in popularity for weddings as attire to wear while getting ready. The morning of your wedding is a special time to enjoy with bridesmaids, getting hair and makeup done, sipping mimosas, and getting excited about the ceremony.
Why are bridesmaid robes so popular?
But robes aren’t just fun to give as gifts or used as photo-ops: they’re incredibly helpful to wear on the morning of the wedding. Why?
Instead of a tank top or t-shirt which is pulled up and over one’s head, a robe has a waist tie. This means when you’re ready to get into your dress — whether your bridal gown or bridesmaids putting on their dresses — you can easily undo the belt and step out and into the dress. Your hair and makeup doesn’t get ruined — a major plus.
Nearly any other outfit we can imagine causes hair and makeup to get ruined, but not robes! Plus, robes are incredibly nice to have as loungewear after the big day.
Does the bride buy bridesmaid robes?
Who pays for bridesmaid robes? Great question: the bride buys the bridesmaid robes IF she’s giving them as gifts.
However, it is not mandatory. You certainly aren’t required to buy everyone robes if it’s not your thing. It’s your wedding, so everything should be up to you! :)
So, in conclusion, bridesmaid robes ARE worth it. They make a wonderful gift for bridesmaids to wear on the wedding day and beyond.
