There’s one wedding inconvenience many couples are dealing with right now: a lack of electrical outlets to plug in ALL THE THINGS! If you want a neon sign at your wedding but there’s no electricity source nearby, don’t worry. There’s a solution and we found it! Read on to find out how to make any neon sign battery-operated for portability and versatility at your celebration.
Let’s get started!
Understanding the Components of a Neon Sign
You might just think, let’s just find a battery-powered neon light. And while that seems like it should be available, there’s something to know about the basic components of a neon sign. In it, there is the neon tube, a transformer, and wiring. Most neon signs are very affordable these days, thanks to its simple plug-in feature. However, it can be inconvenient if you want to add the sign to an arch, a reception wall, or backdrop that doesn’t have a nearby plug. And who wants those ugly cords hanging around?! Not me. :)
However, you can get a power adapter component to make yours a battery-operated neon sign. It’s easy thanks to this battery adapter available on Amazon for around $14.
Choosing the Right Battery Pack
Not all battery packs are created equally, and that’s why it’s important to note the pros and cons of any type of pack you purchase. This one specific battery pack is the only one we use for our events at Emmaline Bride, as they offer optimum performance. You don’t want your lights to dim, fade, or not turn on… right? It’s important to pick one like this that works well on such an important occasion.
It is essentially portable power, allowing you to convert any LED neon sign up to 40″ from wall power to battery power. (Note: If your sign is greater than 40″, you can still use it, but the battery life may not be as long.) This battery pack is ideal if you need powering of your neon sign without a nearby electrical outlet. You’ll need to add 8 AA batteries (not included, but available in bulk here cheap).
The pack is interchangeable with the plug transformer that you receive with your neon sign; it is also compatible with the Smart controller, although I haven’t used a controller on it myself.
Now you’ll keep your neon sign illuminated all night long, regardless of your electricity situation. :)
If you need a neon sign for your wedding, I highly recommend these: they’re affordable, ship fast, and offer awesome quality.
Hope it helps!
