Last night, the temps dropped to the high 60’s. In July. It was actually chilly enough to shut the windows, when just a week ago we were sweating and pumping the air conditioning. :) I joked to Andrew that I am going to start buying fall candles if this keeps up! Ha. And after seeing these wedding boots for the bride that we rounded-up for you, I am also going to ‘add to cart’ a few of these myself ahead of the fall season. And I don’t care ’cause they’re just so cute.
Is it ever too early to get new boots? I think not.
If you’re planning a fall or winter wedding — maybe even a late summer celebration in the next month or so — chance are you’ve thought about what kind of shoes you’ll wear. One of our favorite styles to wear during these months is a pair of wedding boots.
What Are Wedding Boots?
Bridal booties or wedding boots are typically white in color, but can also be in similar light or neutral shades like champagne, ivory, soft blush, taupe, or nude.
A pair of traditional wedding boots usually refers to a cowgirl or western-style boot, worn for a country or western style wedding.
A bridal bootie also makes an amazing wedding shoe: it is one part boot, one part stylish heel (or flat). There are open toe or peep toe bridal booties, boots with sling-backs, and mules, which are a slip-on style.
We’re seeing a huge uptick in wedding boots for bride / bridesmaids to wear in terms of style and exterior color; in addition, we’re also seeing an increase in white wedding boots that are sold at some of your favorite retailers with our highlight today on Chinese Laundry. We’ve never seen pairs as lovely and as affordable as these, tbh.
So, they’re stylish and fun, but can you wear boots to a wedding? Let’s discuss it.
Can You Wear Boots to a Wedding?
Maybe you’re wondering what many brides consider before choosing boots vs. heels for their wedding shoes: is it appropriate to wear boots to a wedding? Is it OK to wear boots to a wedding? The answer is: yes, you can wear boots to a wedding if the wedding is more casual in tone and theme. This applies to both the bride and guests.
You can definitely wear boots with wedding dresses or guest dresses, especially when you have a boho bridal dress or laid-back, casual gown. For guests wearing boots to a wedding, a sundress or maxi dress like this is always a good choice.
Some pairs can go with a bridal jumpsuit or a gown with a sleek silhouette, like this… just look for the more modern styles like peep toe or block heel booties.
Boots are especially popular this year due to so many outdoor or backyard weddings for obvious reasons (post-COVID).
Are They Comfortable?
YES! Boots can be one of the most comfortable wedding shoes ever if you pick the right kind.
If you wear them in well before the big day, your feet will be even happier. :) PRO TIP: Use a shoe tree like this to make your shoes more fitted ahead of your wedding day.
Not only are the comfy, they’re also a fan-favorite among brides because of the following reasons.
• Bridal boots are cute and stylish.
Once you see the wedding boots for the bride in this blog post, you’ll see exactly what I mean.
• They’re trending and now available in all kinds of bride-inspired styles in white, ivory, and nude to complement wedding dress perfectly.
There are so many options that weren’t available before!
• These shoes offer more stability on a thick or chunky block heel for outdoor weddings
Walking in a pair of boots is easier for outdoor wedding terrain, i.e. sand, mud, dirt, leaves, grass, etc. It is going to be your best bet for a barn wedding or backyard wedding this fall — way easier than trying to walk in these outside. You can choose a boot with a heel, booties with a higher block heel, or a flat boot style — they’re all stylish.
• They’re ideal for a rustic wedding
… especially if you like a cowgirl boots wedding dress combination.
