Let’s do it!
Best Save the Date Magnets
I enjoy save the date cards and all, but magnets? I love magnets! A magnet is brilliant because it goes right on the fridge.
That’s the best place for guests to put it because it will never, ever get lost.
Put it on a bulletin board? It gets stuck behind something else in just a few weeks’ time.
Stick it to the fridge with another magnet? It’s not heavy enough and always falls down!
Put the save the date on your nightstand? It slides under the bed or gets hidden under your earrings, phone charger, hair ties, scrunchies, etc.
But put that sucker on the fridge? It’s not going anywhere! And years later, if your guests are anything like mine, those pretty magnets are still well-positioned on the front of the fridge. Why take them down? It’s a beautiful picture of a cute couple! Most people keep it up forever!
And that’s just money well-spent.
A card? It’s nice but it’s soon to be in the trash. But not magnets; they are displayed forever.

The Best Save the Date Magnets: Tips to Save Even More Money
Want to save even more? Here are tips to remember before you buy the best save the date magnets, no matter where you shop.
– Skip the foil.
Sounds nice enough, “add gold foil”… but doing so will up the cost of your magnets up to an additional dollar, EACH. When you’re ordering 100 save the dates, that means an additional $100 for gold foil and, personally, guests won’t really notice tbh.
– Opt for the standard shape.
If you’d like to get the cheapest price possible, select the standard rectangle or square shape which is typically the default option when you buy.
Printers can do custom shapes, like round or heart-shaped, scalloped edges, etc. Doing so, though, will add up to $0.50 on each magnet, just for a custom shape.
– Look for discount codes, coupons, and promo offers.
Many print places online offer discount codes, you just have to know where to find them. At Minted, Basic Invite, or Shutterfly, you’ll usually see the discounts printed on the main homepage when you visit. For instance, BasicInvite.com has a 15% off EVERYTHING code happening now, just use the code listed at the top of their homepage when you check out. That adds up even more savings to ensure you’re getting the cheapest save the dates possible.
– Look for free shipping offers.
In addition to promo codes, coupons, etc., look for free shipping offers. They’re usually mentioned in the print shop newsletters, or on their website.
– Combine your wedding stationery into one massive order.
When you order all of your wedding stationery at once, or at least combine it with one other order, you’ll save money on additional shipping costs which can really add up!
– Order a free sample.
To make sure you’re getting a good deal, you’ll want to get a sample. Some places offer a free sample while others charge a small fee (such as the cost of one individual save-the-date). If you’re not in a rush, I highly recommend ordering a sample before you place a large order.
This allows you to see the actual magnet in your hands, printed and beautifully designed. If there’s anything you’d like to change, you can… before you print 100 of them and spend your budget! ;)
– Send them on time.
There’s no budget-buster quite like buying the cheapest save the date magnets only to turn around and spend the cost savings on rush shipping. Make sure you’re staying on your wedding timeline (see our HUGE wedding checklist here to stay on your game!) and send save the dates on time, six to eight months in advance, sometimes even sooner if it is a destination wedding or many guests will be traveling.
– Consider other affordable save the date options
We love these magnets, but the style is not for everyone. If your budget doesn’t allow or, heck, maybe you want to spend even less on this part of your wedding, then no sweat!
Another cheap, affordable option for save the dates is postcards. They’ll save you more money on postage, as well as zero envelope costs.
I hope this helps you save money on adorable save the dates! I love these magnets so much, I used them for my own wedding! And we loved scoring a huge deal, so I hope you do, too! :)
